Mary's choice Jan 30, 2010 Wintersong is my favorite holiday music cd. Sarah MacLachlan's beautiful voice and her rendition of classic Christmas songs is unforgettable. I can listen to this over and over again and never get tired of it. I am so glad I purchased this CD.
Best Christmas CD ever Jan 07, 2010 I love this CD so much that I find myself playing it other times of the year too. This artist has the voice of an angel, and her arrangements of standards, as well as some original songs, is simply breathtaking! Amid the recycling of the same old holiday songs by other artists, Ms. McLachlan is a breath of fresh air. (Listen especially to her version of "The First Noel" as you've never heard it before - wow!) You will not be disappointed!
A must have Christmas CD. Jan 07, 2010 To have Sarah sing Christmas songs is just pure joy.
A must have for all Sarah fans!

a unique disc from Sarah McLachlan--and it won't go out of style Dec 27, 2009 Sarah McLachlan gave us a splendid holiday album with this release; and even though Christmas is officially over I'm still enjoying holiday music including this album! Holiday music is some of the best music you could ever ask for; and Sarah McLachlan certainly doesn't disappoint us with her performance on this CD. Another thing I like about this is that Sarah performs some melancholy ballads on this album; this really gets into a bittersweet side of holiday time that is sometimes overlooked. The quality of the sound is excellent and the artwork is very nicely done.
Sarah McLachlan joins The Sarah McLachlan Music Outreach Children's Choir and Youth Choir for a beautiful, sensitive rendition of John Lennon's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)." The music fits in perfectly with their singing; and I like the percussion very much. Sarah's excellent diction makes her singing very special, too. "What Child Is This? (Greensleeves)" is also very good; Sarah never misses a beat on this timeless ballad as she sings this to perfection--and beyond! "River" explores some sadder moods that can occur at Christmastime; and the title track ("Wintersong" written by Joni Mitchell) is another poignant ballad that features Sarah squarely front and center--which is right where she belongs!
"I'll Be Home for Christmas" charms me with its beauty; this music leaves nothing to be desired--it's all THAT good. Sarah's interpretation of "I'll Be Home for Christmas" is very easy on the ear and it moves me every time I hear it. "O Little Town of Bethlehem" has a terrific arrangement that highlights Sarah's beautiful vocals; and "The First Noel/Mary Mary" gets a fine treatment from Sarah McLachlan who delivers this faultlessly. "Silent Night" is a major highlight of this album; Sarah delivers this like the pro she is and always will be! I like Sarah's interpretation of "Silent Night" very much and I think you'll like it, too.
"Song for a Winter's Night" has a lovely guitar arrangement; I love Sarah's cover of this Gordon Lightfoot ballad! "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," originally performed by Judy Garland in the MGM musical "Meet Me In St. Louis," uses the strings and more to great advantage; Sarah makes this amazing with her spectacular delivery. Sarah truly sings this from the heart and just one listen proves it! "In A Bleak Mid Winter" is also quite well done; Sarah performs this with panache. "Christmas Time Is Here" from the soundtrack to "A Charlie Brown Christmas" has Diana Krall on the piano with Sarah singing; Sarah and her peers give this tune a somewhat sad flavor although it is pensive as well. However, "Christmas Time Is Here" is still a solid tune with which to end the album--and it even leaves me wanting more!
This is a fine album for Sarah's fans; and of course anyone who wants high quality control Christmas music would do well to add this to their CD collection. I'm still enjoying every minute of this holiday CD; these ballads receive sublime treatments from Sarah McLachlan. I highly recommend this album.
