Diverse yet bound by epic tales and poignant themes! Jun 12, 2008 Another brilliant stroke from a master of instruments and verse. "Tuscon" is an epic tale in the music world, set to music and worthy of a place with American Pie, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Paradise By The Dashboard Light. Language of Love is a song for all men and women to embrace; Windows and Walls a truly poignant tale of our aging loved ones. My favorite, Believe in Me. Wonderful lyrics and music from a deeply missed genious and soul of the earth.

Peek into the Windows and look beyond the Walls. Feb 29, 2008 I have owned this album since it's first release in 1984. Since Dan's death in Dec. 2007, I recently listened to it for the first time in 24 years. I forgot how much I really liked this album! You will hear some rock and beautiful ballads. Being released after The Innocent Age, this album holds it's own, even though the critics ripped it apart. The critics were expecting The Innocent Age part two. This album will not disappoint. You will notice Dan's voice had changed from Innocent Age to this album. Dan had his tonsils removed and by doing that, it lowered his voice. It's still sounds as awesome and solid as it ever had been. His beautiful song writing is still riding high on the tails of The Innocent Age,regardless of what the critics say. Language of Love, total rock. Window and Walls, a ballad that is written with such imaginary. Sweet Magnolia and the Traveling Salesman ,a love song that I believe was written for his first wife Maggie. Believe in Me is just beautiful. Possibly another inspiration of Maggie? Maggie was the inspiration for the Exiles album, known as the divorce album. Take a peek into the window of Dan's soul and discover what you have been missing.
decent one, but sounds too far away from us Jan 04, 2008 this is the first Dan's CD I ever bought other than other compliations from Sony Records, bought in 1993, a year before Definite Collection (Hong Kong version) and The Innocent Age (one of his best)
Believe In Me were widely played among Hong Kong radio stations in 1984-1985, along with Windows and Walls, that's why I purchase this CD
but in turn this is a little disappointment, sound is not so outstanding, and sometimes this one has a feeling that he's way too far away from us, that's why I give 3 stars
though such disapppoiment, I still recommend Tucson, Arizona, and Believe In Me, both are very good and relaxing, espcially the former, you can imagine a short drama in this one

It doesn't get much better Jun 05, 2006 This CD has a place on my shelf as one of the best CD's ever recorded.

weaker effort Apr 19, 2006 This album to me sounds very generic in places. I prefered the acoustic music of Dan's. While that is in place, much of the album is based around generic middle of the road rock songs, that to me, sound exactly like each other. On three tracks 'language of love', a pedestrian rocker, 'let her go' another very dull rocker and 'gone too far', I can't remember it now at all, he tries to rock and it is just not great. Yet a fourth track 'loving cup' also toes the line of rock song and folky music, and is better than the aforementioned three but still not that great.
On Dan's album 'Souvenirs', most of the tracks are melodic ballads, with only one rock song. Why he decided to go over board with the rock songs is a mystery to me.
'Tuscon, Arizona' it has been praised here continuously. When the song started, i thought it was a really nice sounding folk song. But the song goes on and on and on, and never changes. There is a small bridge, but apart from that it is a poorly thought out melody, with a strong lyric. It is completely overrated and soon tires. But after over 8 mins, it is plain annoying.
The other three tracks are beautiful ballads, that I expect from Dan, and just push this up to 3 stars. 'Sweet magnolia' is a pretty piano ballad. 'Believe in me' has a soaring vocal melody and shimmering guitars. An extremely romantic song and quite beautiful. The best song for me is 'windows and walls'. This, for me, has the best lyric about growing old and being alone. The melody is exceptional and so is the instrumentation. Great orchestration as well.
