Dionne Returns Mar 11, 2009 Coming off "My Freinds And Me" it was a pleasure to listen to a new cd without a "Walk on by 08" or a "Don't REmake me over (Again)" While I am not sure the world thinks of Gospel and Dionne being a match (I am sure many outside of her core fan base Remember her 1968 collection)but Dionne offers a nice collection of insperational and tradtional Gospel songs. A marked improvement from "freinds"

Dionne's most disappointing recording... Jun 04, 2008 I am a big Dionne Warwick fan and looked very forward to this gospel set, yet I must admit that I consider it one of the worst and most disappointing recordings of her long and wonderful career. For starters, Dionne does not stand out on these recordings. She is over-shadowed and over-sung by loads of backing vocalists and guests. I want more of Dionne in these songs. Also for me, I do not think Dionne ever quite connects with many of the songs. They are a tad too sterile for me. I wanted to hear her really getting into the spirit, as if she were in the best church service ever, absolutely singing her heart out, which I know she can still do. I do not get that here. The recordings seem too produced and too professional to me. Yes, this album is good, but something is definiely missing, and for me, it is Dionne. Any guest vocalist could have sung her parts on this set. That should not be the case.

Ya'll Have Said A Mouthful Already!! Apr 15, 2008 Fav tracks are: "I Lift My Heart", "Rise, Shine & Give God The Glory" and "The World Needs Jesus". Dionne is in GOOD voice on these tracks and it just takes me away when I listen to them on my MP3 player on the train going to work in NYC! (You need something uplifting when riding along with all the attitudes and bad energy..LOL)It's great to here David Elliott (her son) dueting and in the the backround vocals too :)
DIONNE HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!! Go 'head, lady! Keep on singin'!!!!

Rise, Shine and Give Dionne the Glory! Apr 14, 2008 Dionne Warwick is a true visionary when it comes to music. She can interpret lyrics like no other. Her ability to convey emotion through song is unparralled. In an age of shallow and uninspired music, we have this gem known as "Why We Sing". This wonderful return to greatness, for one of the most talented female vocalists of all time, is a joy to listen to. The music is soulful, uplifting and passionate. If you are a fan of great music or are just tired of the same old thing, do yourself a favor and discover one of the best albums Dionne Warwick has ever recorded.
