Try Trower Again for the First Time. Nov 22, 2009 I'm impressed once again with you Mr. Trower!! I'm an old geezer now who was once a teenager (when BOS--his second album--was released). I think that album was like an Atom Bomb going off in the guitar world at the time--and those of us who were lucky enough to be around and catch Robin, James and Bill in concert were treated to a bit of sonic nirvana! Since the passing of Jim Dewar I think a bit of Robin died. Musically anyway. There are just those musical pairings that make me believe in a higher power controlling things: Jagger/Richard, Lennon/McCartney, Page/Plant, Jimi/Mitch--you get the picture. Robin and James were just such a mystical pairing. Robins' guitar tone and James' vocal tone--well could make a grown man cry. I believe Robin struggled to find a vocalist to match his soulful playing--a tall order indeed--and to my ears never came close. Sorry to all the Patterson fans--but I can't stomach listening to those Trower CD's. This CD however is taking me back to the good old days--Robin is admittedly not the best vocalist on the globe--but I'd much rather hear him interpret his lyrics than someone else (guess this falls under: "If u want the job done right, do it yourself"!)--and his guitar work/tone has really Never been better! And that is saying volumes given his early work is the stuff of legend. Just a thought...I'd love to hear Robin and Steve Winwood do an CD--he's one Cat who's soulful vocals could really meld very well with Robins Strat Magic. Congratulations Robin on a fantastic CD!!

Surprise Nov 13, 2009 I am a Trower fan big time. I am a freak for his tone and phrasing. When I found out he sang on this latest release I was curious. When I finally received my copy of the CD, the last three tracks wouldn't play and it has to be the worst digital recording I have ever heard (pirated?). What I can discern, is an excellent album, with 70's flavoring. I am looking for a new What Lies Beneath so I can once again savor Mr. Trower's art.

young guitar Nov 12, 2009 It does not get any better. RT is over 60 years old yet his music beats all this new stuff I hear these days. I am a RT fan and have ALL Robin Trower's music in my CD collection. In this new release, Robin add's his voice which should have kept it to his great lead singer Davey; nevertheless, combined with his new music, his voise is fantastic. He also adds the organ, and the blend with the guitar is simply amazing. I have over 5000 CD in my personal collection and usually go over any new album i pruchase in less than 3 times on my cd player. RT's new album has been playing for over 30 times now and it is still playing. is it a good album?
if you are a new listener to Trower, this album will hook you good. amazing album; as always from this legendary guitarist.

An artist who is still creating Nov 10, 2009 Unlike most of his peers, Jeff Beck being an exception, Robin Trower is still making great music that matters. He has not forgotten his past, but is building on what he has done to make new and interesting music. There are soulful tunes here, blues, and straight rockers, with lyrics that are relevant. There is an insert in the CD package describing how he went through the recording process that I thought was very interesting, providing insight into how this artist works and creates. This is not "Bridge of Sighs", but is a very good CD nontheless.

The Ultimate Road CD Nov 08, 2009 I found Trower after I lost my Hendrix nearly 37 years ago and I have found that he has a sound all his own. I bristle at the "White Hendrix" moniker, as it cheapens both great musicians. This CD just gets better everytime I listen to it and I listen often. It really sets the mood while driving in the city, country or in traffic and was wonderful as I drove the 101 from Ventura to Pismo last week. The music sets a beautiful theme in your mind and would make a great soundtrack for a movie. I highly recommend it as a Trower fan, I wish the tracks were longer with his signature solos. I guess I will wait for the next tour.
