Sorely missed. Jun 10, 2009 One of the most beautiful voices of her generation. A great song writer and humanitarian. This Anthology includes her best. She left us way too soon.
A Great Collection of Music May 22, 2009 If you like Kate Wolf you need this collection in your collection. If you like acoustic and or the folk style of music you should also get it. If you are someone who cares about the words, Kate was an extraordinary poet. My personal favorite is The Trumpet Vine. You can hear pieces of Kates music on her website. She has a good voice and the artists that accomapany her are talented, but it's the poetry I like best. Keep in mind, that most of this music was written and recorded between 1975 and 1985. Kate Died of cancer in 1986. I loved her music from the first time I heard it. For some people it takes a little longer. I don't think you will be disappointed. If you are on a budget go with "Gold in California" you will miss a couple of songs, most significantly "Give Yourself To Love", but it is also a good collection. I would recommend you just get the Anthology and be done with it. Enjoy
Wonderful! Feb 12, 2009 I only knew Kate Wolf from hearing "Give Yourself to Love" on the radio. Then, I recently subscribed to Pandora Radio, which has a few more of her songs on its folk music playlist. I liked what I heard, so I gave this CD a try.
It is wonderful! Note that the arrangements are very sparse with just a few instruments. If you like that kind of folk music you will love this album!
The Spirit, Soul, and Heart of the Beautiful Kate Wolf Jan 17, 2009 Weaver of Visions spans the creative life of Kate Wolf, a one of a kind artist, a beautiful singer and songwriter who dove unafraid into the depths of her own soul to a place where she uncovered truth and emotion that, in her masterful lyrics and melodies, could reach out to everyone capable of being touched by music. Universal truths, feelings, and insights--all conveyed in elegantly simple lyrics, vocal style, and musical arrangements.
Lest you might think her work is one-note or boring, I would add that the acoustic (for the most part) folk accompaniment is great, sometimes foot-stomping, sometimes soft and intimate, always right on the money. There are few artists around who can produce music of the artistry and beauty of Kate Wolf, and none I have heard who come close to her depth, intimacy and understanding. As an artist, and certainly as a person, she was (and is) unique in the finest way.
Listen to "Brother Warrior", "Eyes of a Painter" (a song about her grandfather), "Like a River", "Give Yourself to Love" (her most popular work), "Unfinished Life" (sadly, tragically prophetic), and the last song she ever recorded, "The Wind Blows Wild". Here is versatility, haunting poetic beauty, life-affirming joy, love, and heartache as you've rarely heard them expressed, in a plain and unadorned style that can stun you with its depth.
As you can tell, I'm a fan, and I could go on like this for thousands of words more. But I am only trying to describe Kate Wolf, her work, and my appreciation of both. The work and the artist herself are what's important, and very much worth your time and attention. If you think you'd like to hear her first-hand, this is a great collection of some of her best work. Get it, and you might just be tempted to track down all of her work, as I intend to do.
In a tragically short life, Kate Wolf left a musical legacy that is unique, unmatched, and beautiful--just as she was.
Weaver of Visions will show you what I mean. I hope you enjoy it!

Keep the beauty alive. Feb 25, 2008 Such beautiful songs. Besides the exquisite "Give Yourself to Love," my little known favorite is "The Trumpet Vine." It's about friendship and loyalty - and the simple but essential comfort those bring. Keep Kate's music alive! Buy it, play it, sing it.
