"Check your over inflated expectations at the door" Oct 11, 2009 3.75 stars. I like it, it's just an easy, fun listen, not sure if I'd actually buy the album however. But if you don't dig swingy, repetitive tunes, I'd pass. If you dig TKK, Rob Zombie, Pulp Fiction, Natural Born Killers sort of funky, lounge-sleeze, you might like this album, which is not as hard, but has similar feel. I like the idea of Puscifer: the freedom, no hard and fast definitions of the project...as an artist, I can understand this sort of dumping ground of ideas that don't fit anywhere else. Some people will dig it, others won't, so what?
NO, it's not TOOL or APC-why don't people understand this? It's hilarious all the people who have their panties in a bunch because of this. And yes, Maynard has a fantastic voice, there are very few who could carry off this unremarkable side project, vocally, with as much appeal. "Check your over inflated expectations at the door." If you're hoping for Tool or APC re-incarnated, move along.
V is for Vagina Jul 21, 2009 Definitely and interesting album. I didn't really know what to think of it on my first listen through, but for some reason I keep coming back to this album.
Like others have said, don't pick this up expecting it to be like anything you have heard from MJK's other bands. Listen to it with an open mind!
For some reason my favorite track has to be Drunk with Power. If you enjoyed this album check out Puscifer.com they have a few songs there that were not included on this album such as The Mission.

LETDOWN Jul 19, 2009 The entire project of Puscifer is a letdown. I cannot understand why Maynard would want to ruin his image and his musical history with this project.
I am a fan of the more recent Tool albums, and I truly felt like the band was moving into the right direction, and towards a more mature direction. I am also a fan of Perfect Circle, and Puscifer does not come close to either the Tool project, or the Perfect Circle project.
Yes, I understand that Puscifer is not Tool or Perfect Circle, but dear god...what was Maynard thinking?
The album covers for Puscifer are ridiculous, and so is the music.
Maynard being very special Jun 27, 2009 I love this album, but don't buy it expecting anything like A Perfect Circle or Tool, it's nothing like them at all.
Different is good Jun 23, 2009 Anyone who can't appreciate the clear depths in Maynard's work has no business in claiming to know the artist. You have to be open to new things to appreciate great performers like Maynard. I have been a fan for a long time and can't wait to hear the follow up to this and all of his other endeavors. Keeping it evolving is important to anyone who has the capacity to listen for new opportunities and lessons in life. Very philosophical here but I hate to see initial reviews that are way off base.
