Uplifter review Sep 28, 2009 I already purchased this CD when it came out, but wanted the DVD and bonus tracks so I bought the limited edition one as well. Good CD and I like the behind the scene footage! I would recommend this for any 311 fans, for a couple bucks more it is worth it!
Bob Rock & Roll 311 Aug 22, 2009 At first, I was like...I only really like two or three songs on the disc. Then, I went threw the CD while doing stuff around the house and fell in love with the CD and my CD player is burning up from over usage. This CD Rocks!
Just when I thought 311 couldn't sink any lower, they put out an album like this... Aug 07, 2009 ...and totally redeem themselves! Simply put, this is 311's best album since Soundsystem, and I'm surprised at the number of negative reviews on Uplifter. Now, I must say that I was a bit disappointed with Evolver, and very disappointed with DTOM which, I hate to say, was a brutal train wreck. In fact, I didn't have any expectations going into their newest release, but their first single, "Hey You," gave me a lot of hope. Even better, like all of 311's classic albums, Uplifter really grows on you. For example, I wasn't a big fan of "Mix it Up," "I like the Way," and a few other tracks when I first heard them...now I have a hard time getting such songs out of my head. Friends of mine who aren't big 311 fans have said the same after a few listens (at first they want me to skip certain tracks, only later to find them seemingly have those same tracks on repeat mode.) Funny how that works out sometimes. But anyway, though there are some weak moments in this album (I simply cannot get into "Jackpot" or "Too Much Too Fast,") overall I'm very pleased with the band's effort here. No, this album doesn't match classic albums such as Transistor or Grassroots, but at least they seem to be heading back in the right direction with the help of Bob Rock (it was also nice to hear them get a good bit heavier on this album compared to recent ones.) Overall, its good to see 311 climb out of the rut they seemed to be in for most of this decade (I mean that in the most respectful way, as 311 set a very high bar in the 90's), and hopefully this will lead to even better albums in the future to come. Oh, one last thing...Uplifter absolutely was the perfect title for this album, and is a great tonic for the tough times many people are going through. What more can you ask for?

Uplifter is truly an "uplifter" Jul 13, 2009 My husband and I were so pumped waiting for this album to be released...first time we listened, we thought "ok, this is mellow" and now we cannot stop listening to this amazing album. 311 is such a talented group, and to be making such great music after almost 20 years says a lot. This album is an uplifter..it will get you on your feet, make you dance and put you in a GREAT mood!! If you're on the fence, jump off - and buy this album - you will not regret it! This is one of those cds you will love EVERY song, and play over and over and over again!
