Description:

International edition of her debut album features 11-tracks, including a bonus hidden 12th track, 'Sojourn'. This import pressing also features two tracks that were dropped from the 2005 US version, 'I'm a Bomb' and 'Frogs and Princess'. In addition the import pressing features the two original versions of 'These Words' and 'Unwritten' which were remixed for the US version and thus exclusive to this pressing. The import version also features different artwork. 22-year-old Natasha Bedingfield (younger sister of Daniel Bedingfield) has a voice to melt radios & a decade long passion for writing & singing. Her debut album Unwritten draws on a range of experiences & passions personal to her - from battling through the dating game ('Frogs & Princes'), & dealing with the trust issues of falling in love ('I Bruise Easily') to learning how to carpe diem ('If You're Gonna Jump') & develop the confidence to take life & own it ('Unwritten'). Told from the viewpoint of a young woman with her head firmly screwed on, Unwritten is fuelled by lyrical sass & real-life suss throughout. Musically the album is inspired by a wide range of influences & styles, from the glam rock of 'Silent Movie' through the muscular funk of 'Single' to the orchestral majesty of 'Wild Horses'. The result is an album packed with winning songs & no irrelevant fillers. BMG. 2004.

5Cute as can be.........  Apr 17, 2008
....and she can actually sing. And you can understand the words. And that's OK, because they're all clean. This album is the pop debut of English Gospel star Natasha Bedingfield, and is the British import version of another album of the same name. They are NOT identical. Eight of the eleven songs are the same. But in addition to being "Single", "Mad", and "Unwritten", here she's a "Bomb", and is worried about "Frogs and Princes". There's a different version of "Drop Me In The Middle", which I must confess I prefer on the American version.

Natasha is a very pretty young girl, and is, indeed, "Unwritten"...a work in progress. She has a very pleasant voice, and "rocks", but not too hard. This is a fine album, and Natasha should only get better. Well recommended.

3Great but not stellar  Nov 28, 2007
I bought this album ages ago, when it first came out in NZ. Back then, I LOVED it. If I'd written this review then, it would look a lot different. I probably would have given it 5 stars.

But time has passed, and today I give this album 3 stars. Why? Because a lot of the songs haven't held up over time. I know it hasn't been that long, but it feels like it.

I will just say, I don't like Natasha's ballads. Her fast songs are awesome... her ballads? Not so much. In fact, on this album the only slower song I like is "I Bruise Easily" - which incidentally is my one of my favourites. I don't know what it is, but I couldn't get into the other ones. But "I Bruise Easily" is gorgeous. It's heartfelt, tender and the lyrics are very meaningful. Natasha may not have the strongest voice but you can hear the emotion in her voice on this.

Onto the upbeat tracks. "If You're Gonna..." is another firm favourite. I just loved this track on the first listen and I still feel the same way now. This song is so full of attitude, I just love the lyrics! Natasha rocks her way through this track, complete with smashing guitars and all. A great track, it would have made a good single.

"Drop Me In The Middle" is a bit of a strange one. I hated it at first, I thought it was too weird and Bizarre was out of place on the song. But over time, I came to appreciate it and now it's one of my favourites on the album. Bizarre's rap makes me giggle now and Natasha sounds cool. Pretty cool lyrics too.

"We're All Mad" is another great one. I don't consider this a ballad, it's more midtempo. It's pretty long, but has the most meaningful lyrics I've ever seen. Quirky, cool and interesting.

"Single" is a always a lot of fun. It was Natasha's debut single and it's become my mantra (as I am single lol). I love this one because you can relate to it and it's really catchy.

"I'm A Bomb" is another attitude filled song and another favourite. If you listen to it too much, it gets slightly boring, but I still like it.

"These Words" and "Unwritten" are sorely overplayed, but both great in their own ways. I think "These Words" is better though, the lyrics are interesting. "Unwritten" is a bit preachy for me, but is still good.

"Silent Movie" is similar to "We're All Mad" - midtempo with interesting lyrics. I like the subject of this one, it's intriguing.

"Frogs & Princes" is a cute track but a little bit too cheesey for my liking.

My favourites are:
If You're Gonna...
Drop Me In The Middle
I Bruise Easily
Single
We're All Mad

I think the problem with this album is, if you listen to it all in one go, the songs seem to blend together and it just sounds like one big long track. The songs are better on their own, where you can appreciate them.

I do like this album though, and although I haven't picked up NB yet, I think I might now I've relistened to this.

4enjoyable debut  Nov 11, 2007
From Ms. Bedingfield.

Had already heard "These Words" and "Unwritten" before buying this. It did take awhile longer before i actually purchased the cd. There were only a couple of songs that i didnt really enjoy "Frogs & Princes" and "If You're Gonna". I just didnt really get into them like i did on other songs. I enjoyed "I Bruise Easily" (always have enjoyed ballads and this no exception), "These Words", "Single" (liked that a lot as well the beat and theme behind the song make it good), "Drop Me in The Middle" w/Bizarre(D12) (dont how to describe it other than an odd pairing that really works), "Unwritten" and "Silent Movie".

They all make for what is a great debut from a talented singer and songwriter (on every track Natasha writes). Nice one.

5Wild Horses - Impressive Ballad!  Sep 20, 2005
I was drawn to Natasha's album from the lead song - These Words. However, I felt three tracks were worthy of stand out performance: power ballads - Wild Horses and I Bruise Easily and gospel feel - Unwritten. This is an excellent album and scores a perfect 5!

My wife has been enjoying this CD like there's no tomorrow! Not only can this artist sing, her lyrics are actually pretty good too! I recommend it highly to anyone with their foot in the doghouse!
