Description:

The band that unwittingly begat the current, if waning, rap-metal frenzy, Korn has been semidormant since 1999's multiplatinum Issues, while bands they inspired, such as Linkin Park, have ruled the charts and minds of disenfranchised teens. The wait for Untouchables' 14 cutting cuts is more than worth it, however. The quintet's heavy sound and lyrical angst have not been dulled by success. Singer Jonathan Davis's often agonized, cathartic lyrics and slightly lispy, emotive delivery are as heavy and varied as on previous outings. The first single, "Here to Stay," boasts a spooky, Nine Inch Nails feel and Fieldy's aggro, down-tuned bass, with Davis growling in pain, "This state is elevating / As the hurt turns into hating / Anticipating all the ... feelings again."

Among and within songs, Korn move seamlessly and dynamically from gentle, spooky, and lushly melodic to a bass-heavy propulsive, explosive musicality. "Embrace" is almost grandiose and Cult-like in its rock drama, in contrast to the punky, straight-up "Wake Up Hate," on which Davis's vocals are especially creepy and Marilyn Manson-like as he rants: "I'm, I'm filthy/ ... / I am disgusting/ Take me away." Untouchables, with its brutal introspection and hints of misogyny, is still a must-have: 62 minutes of deeply felt, ultra-intense spewings, a tour de force that will strike a chord with fans and critics alike. --Katherine Turman

4Pretty good album....  Aug 24, 2005
The album's very good, but it still has its flaws. Well, I'll review the songs now.

Here to Stay- 8/10 Good, but could've done without the high pitched singing at the one part.

Make Believe- 7/10 Ehhhh, it's OK.

Blame- 9/10 Very good song.

Hollow Life- 6/10 The worst song on the album. Too much high-pitched singing... my head hurts now.

Bottled Up Inside- 10/10 One of the best on here. I can really relate to this.. alot of us can.

Thoughtless- 10/10 Again, one of the best songs on here...

Hating- 9/10 Very good song. They mixed in a little bit of techno in at the beginning.

One More Time- 8/10 Good song, stuck in my head.

Alone I Break- 9999/10 The best song on here, next to Wake Up Hate. I can relate alot, like I said on Bottled Up Inside.

Embrace- 8/10 Same as I said for Make Believe, it's OK.

Wake Up Hate- 999/10 Another great song on the album.

I'm Hiding- 8/10 Good song, could be better.

No One's There- 9/10 Another good song, very dark and depressing.

Well, there's my review. So, overall, I give it 4.5 stars. If you're a fan, you'll probably like this album.

5Finally found it  Aug 10, 2005
I'm a big collector of Korn...and i've been looking for this particular cd for almost a year. That's the beauty of dedicated Korn fans...they'll love Korn cds, even when their edited! I bought this mainly for the edit of Here To Stay...but was very happy to hear the edited versions of the other tracks as well. Korn in 2005 baby!!!

1Nope....Nope....Nope....  Jul 27, 2005
Ok, I know that everyone is always dissing on the fans that have been a fan since the very first album and don't like the new change. They will say things like "Quit complaining." "Just let them do what they want to do." "Suck it up." But this is truely an album that shouldn't even be with their other cd's. They should have a special spot in the store for albums like these that is under the catagory "Rejects".

I don't have anything good to say about Jonathan Davis' voice. I think it's pretty much gone and I've even heard some of them in the band mention that in interviews and stuff. I know he can't help it. After years of screaming I'd loose my voice too. But you don't have to sing high like a girl! The music doesn't even sound like guitars half the time. I think this is an album that would be a lot more difficult live to do. The songs just didn't sound too thought out. It sounded like they had beats and samples in the studio and just wrote the first thing they came up with to go with them and there was the song.

I'm dissapointed in this, but I'll always be a Korn fan. I think that they are sort of turning out like Metallica, not comparing the two. Metallica is 'Metallica' and they can put out anything they want now and people will buy it just because it's them..........which they proved on their last couple albums. Same thing is Korn. Korn can put out whatever they want because they are Korn. I'm curious to hear what this new album will sound like without Head though.
