Bat for Lashes goes in the right direction: pop Nov 09, 2009 Although her first effort, Fur and Gold, is considered by many to be better, Natasha Khan's Bat for Lashes finds her own sound with Two Suns.
Still owing some to Bjork and Tori Amos, Two Suns moves into a style that feels more like her own, excelling in the art of popcraft: impeccable songwriting, catchy melodies and a flawless production, but most important: one of the most gifted voices out there today.
Buyers beware though, this album is a grower, at first it might sound somewhat simpler (it happened to me) but with every new listen I found new stuff that made me love it even more...and the best is that you could say that every song counts!! Not a small feat or something you can say a lot these days.
Five Stars! Oct 17, 2009 Short and simple. Bat for Lashes aka Natasha Khan is awesome. She is incredibly talented, has vocals that are Heaven sent, and is gifted on so many levels, it is hard to believe so much talent can reside in one person! This album is incredible, sound wise, lyrically, and is a mystical masterpiece. Get it without a second thought, you will love it. I also saw Bat for Lashes live in Austin, TX and they sounded just as good if not better live than they do on the album. She has a mastermind group of exceptional artists, Charlotte Hatherley, Ben Christophers, and Sarah Jones. Again, you have to experience this musical masterpiece. Five stars without a doubt!

Etheral, lovely, thought provoking Jul 22, 2009 Regarding Two suns (I've not heard Ms. Kahn's first album yet)-
Inevitable comparisons must surface... Enya, & to some degree, Lorenna McKinnet, or Moire Brennan, but Ms. Kahn is not "straight-jacketed" by her approach; not settled into a single "sound", yet there IS a Ms. Khan "sound"... It's just not placed in your lap on a platter as the other two ladies I mentioned do ( & don't get me wrong, I love both Enya, & Ms. McKinnet's work)- it's just that you might have to "work" a trifle, delve into her washes of sound to discern her "sound'.
Difficult? Not at all!
Fun? Indeed!
Worth your time & money?
I vote YES!

Once upon a dream Jul 11, 2009 Bat for Lashes' "Two Suns" is a dreamy, magical album. A follow-up to her 2007 debut "Fur and Gold",half-Brit,half-Pakistani diva Natasha Khan shows off her sonic strengths. "Two Suns" is indie rock at its surreal, fantastical best.
"Two Suns" opens with the delicate "Glass" which uses verses from the Song of Songs. It's quietly mystical, speaking of crystal towers. "Moon and Moon" plays with gender bending, with Khan singing "If I were boy and you were girl." "Daniel" is an ode to the hero of the Karate Kids movies. In a sense,it evokes the nostalgia of the '80s. "Pearl's Dream" is ethereal. "Two Planets" is also enigmatic. The closing song, "Big Sleep" evokes film noir.
"Two Suns" has Bat for Lashes shining. Bat for Lashes has received critical acclaim from Radiohead's Thom Yorke, and former Beatle Ringo Starr himself. Starr mentioned her on the Rachael Ray show, only to receive a blank look from Ray, then a gushy "yes,I think she's great too."
"Two Suns" is luminous. It's a shining piece of music in 2009. It's a musical fantasy!
