At last ... some exposure Sep 17, 2009 Ray LaMontagne is a wonderful singer and songwriter but not as well known as he deserves to be. However I notice that Traveller's insurance company is using the song Trouble to accompany a cute advert about a dog worried about its bone ... hey, whatever it takes to get this great performer noticed. I don't think Trouble is his best album, but Burn and Shelter are first-class.
Why Don't I See This Man EVERYWHERE??? Sep 14, 2009 like so many pop stars who're shoved down our throats at every turn? I've never heard one of his songs on the radio. That's a travesty! Honestly, people, what is going on with the dumbing down of America when it comes to music? This man has real talent. Something you can sink your teeth into. Every song on this CD is a gem. And they're all different. His style is eclectic, which I love. His gritty, soulful voice truly touches every emotion. Yes, I'm gushing. And there's no shame in it when you're telling the truth! Listen to the title song, TROUBLE and you'll swear his heart is breaking. Listen to SHELTER and you'll swear YOUR heart is breaking. Then move on to HOLD YOU IN MY ARMS and you don't care that your heart is breaking just as long as he'll sing a few more songs to you. Just to you. LOL!
Seriously, get this CD. You'll be as delighted with it as I am. Unless you actually like that pop music on the radio.
Excellent Jul 05, 2009 This is an excellent CD with amazing tracks and beautiful lyrics. Great gift idea for your partner!!
Trouble CD Jun 25, 2009 Good stuff. I'm not compelled to listen to it repeatedly (except the song "Trouble"), but it's a good CD.

Not bad, but not visionary Mar 24, 2009 I was not completely unsatisfied with this CD. The opener "Trouble" is strong. Other tracks that stand out to me are "Jolene," "Forever My Friend," and "Hannah." The problem I have with this CD is that after listening to the first few songs they all start to mesh together and sound the same. The chord changes are very similar for all of the songs and extremely predictable (musicians with good ears will know what I'm talking about). This isn't necessarilly a mark of a bad songwriter or a bad album. I just wish it had been a little more varied. Also, don't expect to shake your booty or be uplifted. If you need a decent acoustic CD to put on and brood, then this is a pretty safe bet.
