Description:

Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist Randy Rhoads was a technical genius on his instrument, but that's only half the story. Rhoads shaped the direction of Osbourne's first two post-Sabbath recordings, Diary of a Madman and Blizzard of Ozz, which still stand as his best solo studio albums. Rhoads also was capable of pulling the best out of Osbourne onstage, a notable accomplishment in itself. This live set was released five years after Rhoads's death in a bizarre plane accident, and it's still a striking reminder of what was lost. Osbourne and company run through the Blizzard album in its entirety, adding a few tunes from Diary, and the Sabbath classics "Iron Man," "Children of the Grave," and "Paranoid." The highlights are Rhoads's guitar freakout on "Suicide Solution" and studio outtakes of his solo acoustic showcase, "Dee." --Daniel Durchholz

5OZZY/RHODES  Dec 13, 2009
Randy Rhoads is one of the most highly praised guitarists in the Metal genre. His mix of Classical and contemporary guitar styles, which now seems clichéd, was a truly original and genuinely outstanding skill. This live record serves as testament to his ability. To some extent, he sounds even better than he did on his albums with Ozzy. Not forgetting Ozzy; for all the controversy of his actions of the 1980s it is surprising to hear his talent in a live format.

1Randy Roads is the worst guitarist ever!  Jul 11, 2009
My friend David told me to check out this album for some tr00 guitar playing. I found the tape in a junkshop for 50 cents so I bought it without hesitation. Wow, was this bad or what! Total disappointment. The guitar playing was just the same boring shredding and overly-long solos again and again for an hour. Weak. Check out "St. Anger", "All The Right Reasons", "Metal Machine Music" or "American Idiot" for some facemelting solos from true fretboard masters!

Can never go wrong with Randy Rhoads...Incredible CD. Could only imagine how many more great albums would be out there if Randy was still alive!

5Behold a Legend  Jan 19, 2009
In my personal opinion Randy "is" and was the Greatest guitar player to ever thrash a six string. The studio albums do not give him justice because of his inability to reign free over his production by disrespecting producers who did not allow him to let loose with his recordings from lack of trust from a very young axeman. In contrary, this album shows you what Randy was capable of when Ozzy let him do his shine through. Simply incredible.

5AMAZING!!!  Aug 01, 2008
I remember buying this when it was first released on vinyl. I wore this sucker out. Randy was simply the best. Rippin' chops but with an amazing melodic sensability. An amazing talent as this album demonstrates. If you are unfamiliar with Randy, BUY THIS!!!
