A Must Own Jan 31, 2010 A heartfelt album for the love and connections of two different musical artists.
This is a true tribute to Townes.
Enjoy it for it's purity and don't read into it what it is not.
Steve did justice to his memory.

not good Earle Dec 28, 2009 I love Steve Earle and this CD is simply too varied in quality to get my good review. He is all over the map in style, back ground music and does not capture Townes as I know him. Sorry, Steve -- good try but no cigar! It is hard to listen too, unlike most of Steve's recent works.

Townes Record Nov 11, 2009 I received my order very very quickly and in perfect condition. I will definately recommend this seller.
Steve Got This One Just About Right Nov 09, 2009 Steve Earle's recent release of covers of some Townes Van Zandt's most popular songs is (IMHO)an excellent piece of work. I think that Townes would approve. Listening to any of that newer group of Texas outlaws e.g. Steve Earle, Guy Clark, etc., doing any of Townes' "stuff" is almost like hearing a new gem from this dead too young Texas poet.
Most folks are familiar with PANCHO AND LEFTY, but much of Townes' music is less well known and those unfamiliar with said music are missing a gift. Van Zandt's work combines some well crafted poetry with heart touching melodies that are just right for listening to whilst sitting around the fire place with a cuppla' fingers of I.W. Harper and maybe your wife or a group of other good friends.
Steve Earle was a good choice of artist to lend his earthy baritone voice and guitar work to this CD. REAR VIEW MIRROR, my most played Van Zandt offering, is now joined by TOWNES and they shuffle along together rather nicely. Like my title says, Steve got this one just about right. I sent this copy to my son in New Jersey and he says that he enjoys it. This may suggest that Towne's music is accepted by a much wider audience/demographic than folks thought when Townes was still alive. I hope that makes Townes happy, wherever he is. The CD is making me happy up here in Northern California and with winter coming, I'm sure that I'll have many a pleasant evening, swapping stories with friends while TOWNES supplies the background music. I highly recommend this CD, TOWNES, without qualification.
