 This Man Can SING!!!! Mar 23, 2009
My sister and I have been looking everywhere for this cd just for the song "when i'm with you". I was finally able to surprise her with it for christmas. That song is so BEAUTIFUL. I saw a play with tony terry in it and boy do that man have some vocals on him. The rest of the cd is okay but for that one song alone i didn't mind buying the whole cd.

I bought this album about 5 years ago and it just amazes me to see such a talented artist not promoted properly. That being said I love "friends and lovers" and of course "with you" is some star material. Thank you terry for bringing love to life. k.

I personally just bought this CD for just one song on it. I am getting married, and Tony Terry has one of the hottest wedding songs ever on this CD.

In all honesty, it's hard for me to find a male vocalist whos voice I truly enjoy listening to. Tony Terry is one of the few male artists whos voice I really like. He has a beautiful singing voice and impressive vocal control. I remember when "When I'm With You" was first released to radio and how awestruck everyone was by the song. It became a popular wedding song and there is no wonder why. This song is flawless! The lyrics are beautiful; the ballad with have you crying, breathless, that's how great it is. Unfortunately, there are only two songs on his self-titled debut that truly impressed me. The aforementioned and "Everlasting Love." This is another magnificent love song that has replay value. He really exercises his voice here, and the lyrics and production are worth applauding. The remainder of the album is lackluster when comparing it to these songs. Most of the album has New Jack-influenced production, and they are simply typical love/women/sex/relationship songs.
"Bad Girl" and "Baby Love" are two alright mid-tempos. "Baby Love" has hints of the rock and New Jack sounds, but the finished product isn't too great. It's an okay song at best. "Bad Girl" has a cute hook, but, again, its typical New Jack/R&B. His delivery is nice, but then again, his delivery on every song is very good. "Head Over Heels" is about a girl who came along at just the right time and Tony, of course, falls in love with her. The lyrics and production are average. What I immediately noticed about "Let Me Love You" is the fact the beat sounds a lot like Janet Jackson's hit, "Alright." The raps could have been left off of the song, but as a whole, its kind of nice. Lyrically,
"Tongue Tied" is a good song. The song is about a woman who is so gorgeous that she makes you tongue tied. It's a cute concept.
This album is decent at best. There are enjoyable moments, but this album is far from consistent. If you don't get this album, just make sure you have "When I'm With You" and "Everlasting Love" somewhere in your collection. Those are necessary! 3 stars, but they aren't "shining."
