Bless the Space Between US: A Book of Blessings Nov 09, 2009 I had heard the author interviewed on NPR with Crystal Tippit on the program "Speaking of Faith" and was very impressed by the readings cited during the program. Ms Tippitt recommended this volume in particular. The writer's use of imagery is brillient in an understated way. I love the book and expect it will be a source of ongoing spiritual comfort and reference.
A Treasure Oct 22, 2009 Strong, fine and shining as silk, this book is a treasure. Written by poet John O'Donahue, the only agenda is love and compassion and the only spiritual requirement is a belief in the sanctity of shared human experience. The blessings range from a blessing for the parents of a criminal, to a blessing for artists, to blessings for the beginning, middle and end of each day. Offering a place of sanctuary and celebration, Blessing the Space Between Us will never grow old.
To Bless The Space Between Us Aug 06, 2009 An exceptional gold mine of thoughtful and articulate concepts that both broaden the mind and consciousness and at the same time feed and comfort the heart and spirt (for yourself and others). It has such mental and emotional integrity and maturity. It is in a class of its own and reaches way beyond the level of a feel good, "build your ego," or "positive thinking" kind of read - such a thing is not easy to come by. Regardless of one's religion or belief system, this precious gem speaks to the human heart, mind and intention with a fundamental assuptiom that God is ubiquitous and omnipresent so the author deliberately refrains from using the word and says that it is too big and beautiful to be diminished by the use of other words or phrases surrounding it. It is a delight and a treasure from every aspect - poetic without being poetry, mentally challenging, insightful, assuring and logical, yet it is deeply healing, comforting and touching all at the same time. It can be read all the way through or can be picked up and read randomly. It's a keeper and I keep this book with me in the car as well as share it with others. They seem to make a note of it and purchase it at their earliest convenience.

Important Encouragement for Relationships May 29, 2009 Everything John O Donohue wrote has profound implications for a fuller understanding and experience of life, relationships and spirituality. His writings mine deep the thinking and philosophy of the 13th century mystic Meister Eckhardt mainly, and other philosphers as well. Of course he distills all this information in his own life experience and words. What has come forth in this book is Brilliant!
We never think of the impact of blessings in life. In this book, John causes us to rethink our impact on others during the commonality of daily relationships. With this view, nothing is common anymore all is beauty and the human experience is not to be one of fear. Through relationship and blessing we all walk through the paths of life together. Blessings ease the way.
It is a shame that John died this year. He had so much to offer, and was my most recent teacher of spiritual things. You are missed John!

A craftsman with words from the heart... May 26, 2009 To Bless the Space Between Us: A Book of Blessings
Once in a great while a book comes along that touches you at many levels...the is one such book. I have already given several copies as gifts to those special friends who will recognize an author who is a craftsman with words from the heart. Anyone who has ever searched for something to say to a friend or loved one who is in the middle of a major "earth-school lesson" will resonate with the quiet wisdom of John O'Donahue's words. It is, quite simply, a healing experience just reading it.
