Rich, relaxed songs with a stripped down recording - niiiiiice Oct 02, 2009 This album is beautiful. The production is restrained and honest, allowing the songs to speak for themselves - song-for-song, this album breathes refreshing, elegant, effortless tunes - could "Going Down To Cuba" be a perfect song? Call it Mellow Rock, Adult Acoustic Alternative, whatever. But do yourself a favor - own it. GENRES: Rock, Mellow Rock.
BUY IF YOU LIKE: Jackson Browne, Van Morrison, James Taylor, Steve Forbert.
MUST HEAR TRACKS: "Going Down To Cuba," "Giving That Heaven Away," "Just Say Yeah."

Great Album Aug 20, 2009 We recently saw Jackson Browne in concert and he played a number of the songs from this album. We just had to have the album after hearing him. If you like Jackson Browne, you will like this album.

I Must Like The Notion That Everything We Do Is A Political Act Aug 02, 2009 I may not share every political strand, not every drop, not sure, I'm just listening. Like what I hear.
Maybe I think we must now face the political necessity to stand and sing with our whole heart.
What amazes me the most about this album is today I was driving...along listening to the radio. Going to the new organic market, just setting out feeling good. I don't know the reason but there was a beautiful rift coming out of the dash. The words were coming to me much, much slower. It was so lovely about going down somewhere to see my friends. So I was driving thinking of several people I dearly wish were listening to this masterfully played piece as I started to follow what was going on inside the piece rhythmically. Thinking of musicians I know and how they'd love that. Then I did begin to hear the words. Something like this:
"I'm going to down to Cuba someday soon
Following that Caribbean moon
It's been too long since I've been there
I'm going down there to see my friends
Down where the rhythm never ends
Where women wear gardenias in their hair"
So I'm driving and I keep putting away in my mind just the lyric piece about going down to Cuba to see my friends, wanting to look it up later. So hours have passed now and I go on-line to figure it out.... I about fell out of my chair as I looked it up a bit ago to find I'm listening to Jackson Browne. How could I not know. (Someone who I hope to soon see in Santa Barbara and who I listen to so glad he has made music) and it was just a tune I instantly liked.
And the Album is "Time The Conqueror" (tell me about it) and this is my 1st time listening.
And it's a good day.
Won't you try it with a realization that as we do go on in our time, it becomes time to say what we need to say to the wastes, the abuses, the wars, the future, to our own ways and days, and our own hearts questioning? I don't know if I can review this well yet, until I've listened, and listened. I know it's been wonderful putting it on to listen.
But I can speak to how much it's meaning to me right now.
Seems great, beautiful, lyric, rugged, real, full of thought, pain, pleasure, the relaxed planting of melody into your mind and being.I would go hear this anywhere. Let's speak of things worth listening to. Many things have crashed down for me, he's remarkable.
I'm really grateful for this. It may heal a few of my minutes.

Disappointing. Jul 12, 2009 I've been a JB fan since 1975. I've listened to all his albums and kept the better ones; this one is not a keeper. I'm not opposed to political songs, I thought World in Motion was great. The political songs on that album were better lyrically and musically than on this latest 'Time'. I echo the opinion of others, that 'Just Say Yeah' is the best number on the album. The title song didn't impress me much, the same subject was explored in "The Fuse" from The Pretender. That latter song was much more effective and worthy of inclusion on a JB album.
In a recent interview, JB said that the nine minute Katrina song was not one that bears repeat listenings. So, out of respect for his fans why couldn't he make it available as a free download. They put Deleted Scenes on movie DVDs, why not have Deleted Songs available on your Web site. I wish I could say Heck of a job Brownie, but that would be as untrue as ever.

Awesome Jun 23, 2009 I saw JB perform some of this material on PBS'S Soundstage... WOW! What a show. The band and backup singers were amazing and JB was right on his game.
Top notch songwriting and performances.
Thank god for Jackson Browne and his amazing talents.
