No surprise here -- an insanely awesome album Feb 08, 2010 I was late to the party with jazz, so I've had to go back and buy albums that friends have been talking about for years; Most recently, that meant this one. It's a great sensation, experiencing on your own a thing that history has already proven to be a classic. It turns out -- shocker -- that hundreds of thousands of people weren't wrong. The album is 7 perfect tracks -- and 'Take Five' has got to be the coolest track of all time. It's two weeks later and I can't stop playing this album. Get it!
Take Five Jan 06, 2010 I bought this just so I could listen to "Take Five". A lot. I've always loved that tune. I wish there were an extended version that just goes forever. I could get lost in it. Maybe I should have bought the MP3 and put it on infinite loop.
Nah, the rest of the CD is pretty good too. It's a great intro to Brubeck. Mostly though, take five.

Just saw Dave Brubeck Quartet Yesterday!!!!!! Dec 05, 2009 Didn't know where to put this, but my wife and I attended "A celebration of the Sacred" at Immaculate Conception Church in Cranston, RI yesterday with none other than Dave Brubeck and the quartet, Bob Militello on alto sax and flute, Michael Moore on Bass, Randy Jones on drums. Dave turns 89 today and he is off to the Kennedy Center in DC to receive a Lifetime Achievment award. The program will be broadcast on December 29 (PBS???.don't know). In any event, Dave and his crew were just fantastic and the program was 2:30 in length with about 1,000 in attendance celbrating the opening of a new school by his great buddy, Father Ronald Brassard, the pastor. Half of the program was most of Dave's old standards, including some Chopin he played on a trip to Poland for Pres Eisenhower as a tour of Eastern Bloc Countries. He still has the old touch. If you can Google the church, you might be able to get a copy of the program from Fr. Brassard. (P.S. Send him a donation..my recommendation..not his)
Sorry to interrupt your review of this album, but I think I just died and went to heaven last night and wanted to share this info somewhere.

Time Out : Only SACD, Only...Fantastic Sep 25, 2009 It's impossible to buy this sacd in Spain (few of them are avalaible), but this version it's amazing. Not hybrid version.
Six Stars! If you're stressed, get this one. Sep 08, 2009 Brubeck's quartet brings out the best features of every performer. This CD is definitely worth buying since it reflects both a happy mood and some incredibly challenging rhythms. It's obvious these artists were really 'in the zone' when they recorded and performed this music.
It's great CD. It's great to take a break and get an alternative perspective of our fast paced life and de-stress with this music. Take five! And buy this CD.
