I'll stick with my Kansas LPs Nov 17, 2009 I don't need to say much. I have always loved this band... and I still do. But what's with the symphony orchestra? Every one of these great songs is bogged-down by gratuitous orchestral arrangements. Other bands have done it well... like the Eagles. Not so with this concert. This, as well as the spray on tans, hockey haircuts, and other affectations, made Kansas look more like an opening act for a Celine Dion concert rather than the legendary band I had envisioned.

Kansas: There's Know Place Like Home Nov 14, 2009 The DVD and CD are EXCELLENT!!! Mixed well by Jeff Glixman and company. Another awesome Kansas concert captured perfectly. Guests included former Kansas member Steve Morse and original Kansas member Kerry Livgren. A bonus song of "Down the Road." A must for all Kansas fans and any fans of live rock!

"Dust in the Wind" Enough already! Nov 08, 2009 I have seen this group 10 time. Their best was in the 70's. I did see them open for YES in Denver years ago. Great concert. I was was front and center. I could touch the stage. With all this said, don't buy this cd. Get the box set. Better yet, buy their first 5 cd(all have been remastered) and that's all you need. You can see Kanasas at any State Fair any summer. This cd is just a way the record label tp make a few bucks. Kansas won't make much at all. Dust in the wind...all they are is Dust.

ok, but not great Nov 05, 2009 I've been a fan of theirs since the mid 70's, and frankly, their best live recording was 1978's "Two For The Show". If you want to hear Kansas' music sound great live - get that one, not this one.
This recording is ok, the music is still great, but the vocals leave a lot to be desired. Steve sounds like he's trying very hard to be, well, something he's not. Can't quite put my finger on it, but it's almost as if he's trying to sound like an 8-year-old singing. And he really is (or *can* be) a better singer than that. This has been a complaint of mine for the past 15 or so years and I foolishly keep hoping that this "style" of his will just go away. But it doesn't. In the case of "Song For America", however, it's more a narration of the song, vice a singing of it, sort of like the symphonic version on "Always Never The Same". I refer the listener back to the original studio recording and the aforementioned live version from "Two For The Show" - now *THOSE* are great recordings.
And Billy Greer's vocals can be much better than they are here. On this recording, he seems to lack "musicality" in his voice - he seems to be just "going through the motions" (pardon the pun) of singing the songs. No emotion to be found there.
Sadly, as another reviewer mentioned, there has been no new music from this once great band in well over 10 years. If this is the best they have to offer, perhaps it's time to hang up the guitars, lay down the drumsticks, and slide quietly into retirement.

There's know more disapointing place like home ! Nov 03, 2009 Well it has been awhile since I listened to something new from Kansas, I was impressed by Device Voice Drum back when it came out though Steve Walsh's vocals were a little strained however he did a decent Job on that concert, about halfway through this CD Steve Walsh starts to sound awful !
Compared to Device Voice Drum which was recorded and mixed very well indeed the mix of this concert is rather muddy, even the orchestra suffers due to the borderline mixing job.
This is a disappointing release that maybe only the most forgiving Kansas fan-boys will enjoy.
