Then and Now  (Audio CD)

What have we here? Another release in the "Then & Now" series! And, as usual, it's a compilation covering very few releases by the artist... in this case, 2 !!!

The first 7 tracks (6 of which are live) are taken from EM's "Shakin' With The Money Man" album. That album, released way back (?) in 1997 (I guess that's the "Then" portion) contained 4 studio tracks ("Can You Fall In Love Again" appears here) and 10 live recordings from 2 concerts in July 1997 from Santa Ana, California. Impeccable recording quality, and enthusiastic performances.

The other 5 tracks (the "Now" portion?) are taken from the "Ready Eddie" CD, released in 1999, which contained (finally!) the studio recording of "Broken Down Chevy", a song EM has performed live countless times throughout his career.

The packaging is disappointing (no liner notes, bio or even lyrics), so this release is for the EM completists (and even then...); the casual listener would be better off by picking up either 2001's "The Best Of" on Columbia, or 2003's "The Essential" also on Columbia...

If you're REALLY interested in this release, I suggest you then pick up the "source" albums instead; a bit more money, but lots more MONEY for your money.
