Impressive and informative Aug 25, 2009 I was very impressed with this book. It is, first of all, the most-easily readable book on fertility that I have read. The information was well laid out and logical. This was especially important to me as the concepts were somewhat unfamiliar.
I was also very pleased with the fact that the author(s) did not only address those patients who would have access to a Chinese medical practitioner, or to acquiring the herbs described in the various sections.
Additionally, Dr. Dao incorporates both traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western medicine. There was no sense of irrational bias towards the methods he adheres to.
The questionnaires and other resources were also very helpful. While following TCM requires many changes to lifestyle and diet, Dr. Dao's book does a remarkable job of making the process seem achievable and the stories of his success certainly were heartening.

Informative Aug 09, 2009 I found some of the information in this book to be very informative. I have to admit I only bought this book because I watched an interview with the author on the Today Show. Many woman swear by the information that is given. However, I am still not a mom. Just a great aunt.

Simplistic information that can be found through a basic Google search Jun 13, 2009 The first 107 pages of this book are exclusively about extremely basic concepts: lose weight if you are heavy, gain weight if you are underweight, start an exercise program, avoid stress, take a prenatal vitamin, etc. I kept reading because I couldn't quite believe this would be the book's focus. But, it was. Also, the constant references to Dr. Dao's clinic were a distraction. Rather than an introduction to Chinese medicine's approach to infertility treatment, the book is a running advertisement for Dr. Dao. Of course, it's his book and he can write whatever he wants. Clearly, he's a talented practitioner with many satisfied patients. However, I can't recommend this book to anyone who wishes to do more than prep for a visit to Dr. Dao's office.
If you are interested in a very basic primer on exercise and nutrition with a Chinese medicine twist, purchase this book. If you are looking for any detail or sophisticated discussion on Chinese medicine's take on infertility treatment, this is not your book. I was expecting something along the lines of Harriet Beinfield's Between Heaven and Earth but for infertility. What a disappointment.

Informative May 08, 2009 I learned a lot and the author was very detailed about the techniques, the diet, the supplements... something that I needed, since I didn't know where to begin. Overall, the tone of the book was pleasant and reassuring, but realistic - some people just cannot have biological children... yet that shouldn't be the end of the world for you. A great book.
