4Get Away & Uncover It All!  Sep 29, 2009
Through all the turmoil and all the struggles Monica proves in this album that despite the downfalls she is a fighter, achiever, and believer. Her songs display confidence, depth of emotion, and much love in her heart. Every track has something to offer the average R&B lover. Every song is excellent and not tiring to hear straight through. There are no fillers or annoying interludes. My favorite songs are "A Dozen Roses" for the romance, "Why Her?" for the lyrics, "Raw" for the dance style beats, "Getaway" since I can relate to the words and "Hell No" for the rap and strength of character displayed.

This Japan Edition has the bonus track titled, "Thanks For The Misery", a glossy finish lyrical booklet plus obi-strip. The song is a celebration to the single person who has been liberated from the person who wasn't it. "There's no more you and me... who was the one that made you roll the dice twice?... who in the h*ll is the man who I thought was you?... thanks, now everything you didn't give someone else is giving me." This is the song to seal the deal and perfect a smashing album reflecting a strong, confident Monica! It's a listening experience that transcends and sends over and over to love oneself!

There are beautiful songs that are romantic like "A Dozen Roses (You Remind Me)" showing how different things [Gucci, Bentley) remind her of her lover. Another romantic one would be "Doin' Me Right" as their are references to love and feeling it strong. "My Everything" reflects the ultimate dream of finding the perfect lover. This is the kind of song of what dreams are made of. It's refreshing, soothing, and excellent!

There are slower R&B jams like "Getaway" that show the struggles of dealing with everyday life and wanting to get away. She sings stuff like, "I really don't want to sound like I can't hold my ground but everybody needs some time that they can get away... I'm not superwoman...". "Why Her?" is another slow jam that touches on issues of how a love that you wanted did not go as expected. While the world of relationships come and go one can't but ask the same question when a romance just ends abruptly when all was great. "Gotta Move On" has some nice rap along mellow styles bringing to the light that staying solo is better than being with someone that's not all that.

For hip-hop lovers there are a few tracks like "Everytime Tha Beat Drop Feat. Dem Franchize Boyz", "Hell No (Leave Home) Feat. Twista", and "Raw Feat. Swizz Beatz". The dance tempos have excellent uplifting styles that are definitely fun, highly energetic, and danceable.

While the album had more mellow tracks than dance type hip-hop ones I still found it to be excellent, and worth the price. The depth of emotions, musical styles, and themes are excellent and when combined with the lyrical booklet it's great to sing along, reflect and even read on a not so sunny day. The added song is worth it. This is highly recommended for fans and for the ones who crave a comfort after a storm, a shelter after the pain, and a hope and belief that everything will be alright.
