Sufficiently predictable Nov 22, 2009 TLM was a decent enough album to end these 90's rap kings on a respectable note, though aside from providing a lengthy bumpin' time, provides little in the way of innovation and multi-genre experimentation that helped keep them apart in a crowded circle.
average for a super group Apr 30, 2009 First time I heard tribe was the low end project which got me to get the other albums this album has it's bright spots but some songs like the booty is just ok i like the album . most people said it's a hit or miss you have to give it a real time to grow on you RIP JAY DILLA WHO PRODUCE CAUGHT MY EYE FOR THE EVENING
4 1/2 Stars...Better than Beats, Rhymes and Life, not as good as the "Classic 3" Apr 30, 2009 I really do like this final album from the Tribe. I bought this album without thinking that it would be a classic like the first three albums. I was just hoping that it would be better than Beats, Rhymes, and Life, and I believe that it is. I really think that the wordplay between Tip and Phife was at its best on this album. And with no Consequence and only a couple of songs with guests on it, it gave Tip and Phife Dawg more time to shine on their own. The album gets off to a great start with "Start It Up", and then goes into the lead single "Find A Way", which I believe to be right there with "Check The Rhime" and "Award Tour" as one of Tribe's best songs. Other standout tracks on the album are "Steppin' It Up" with Redman and Busta Rhymes. I disagree with one of the previous reviewers. Having Busta Rhymes on this album does not go against Tribe's style, because he was, after all, the main star on the "Scenario" track from THE LOW END THEORY. To me, Redman was the one out of place on this track. Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip flow together very well (ILL VIBE is one of my favorite tracks from Busta's THE COMING album). "Give Me (featuring NORE), "Pad and Pen", and "Busta's Lament" are some of the other standout tracks. This is definitely a worthwhile listen. COP THIS AND ALL OTHER TRIBE ALBUMS!!!
anything less than 5 stars and your're crazy! Dec 26, 2008 tracks 2, 7, 5 and 10 are best. Anybody who fails to recognize ATCQuest as the most unflawed, most respected, best beat-production and rhyme delivery is crazy. Maybe, in the next 200 years, God might grant humans another opportunity such as this for Three Black men to do this again for the trained ear.
Very underrated album Aug 23, 2008 When I first heard this album when it came out, I didn't take it too seriously cause it was just different from low end theory and midnight marauders. After a couple of listens, I realize that this album was the perfect ending to a spectacular career. The only way I can describe this album is "futuristic native tongue." I think that this album was ahead of it's time when it was released, hence some of the indifferent or negative feedback on this album. My personal favorites are 1: Da Booty 2: Busta's lament 3: Mutty Ranks 4: Find a way.
Don't sleep on this album!!!! It's genius in it's own way.
