Travis at their Peak Oct 25, 2009 The Invisible Band is Travis' commercially most successful album, and many would argue that this also applies in artistic terms.
Three tracks from the album reached the top twenty, and the songs "Sing" "Side" and "Flowers in the Window" requires no further presentation.
Among the other tracks the album "Follow the Light" is a favorite, this song undoubtedly had the potential to get the album another hit. The strongest track of the album, though, is for me the closing track "The Humpty Dumpty Love Song" - which begins just like it was just a bonus appendix for the album; nothing could be more wrong which you will realize as soon as the overwhelmingly moving chorus first is sounding.
All in all a really strong album, where some of the songs might suffer from having been played too often.
Keane + America = Travis. Especially on this album. Also, very surprised that "Pipe Dreams" was never on a greatist hits album Jan 21, 2009 I tell people who are not familiar with the band Travis to try and imagine a half-awake Tom Chaplin (lead singer of Keane) singing to the accompanyment of earthy-sounding, melancholic tunes very reminiscent of America, an old, but very good band from the 70's that cranked out such memorable hits as "A Horse With No Name", "Ventura Highway", "Don't Cross The River" and "Tin Man". Travis is practically a combination of the two above mentioned parties, yet with quite a bit of their own originality. I am really surprised that this band is not more well known, like Coldplay, but even when you are terrific, it is perhaps not necessary to be THAT well known. This album, "The Invisible Band" is just absolutely superb and just about every song is a winner. "Side" is one my personal favorites, as well as "Flowers In The Window", and "Sing". However, my ultimate favorite is "Pipe Dreams" and I was just shocked when I saw that this was not on their greatest hits album, "Singles".
At any rate, this is an album that is worth buying and is definitely a keeper for diehard Travis fans.
I love this album Oct 30, 2007 I simply love this album. I've been a Travis fan for a while and though my musical taste changes from day to day, this is an album I have never gotten tired of. I enjoy it start to finish every time I put it on.

A pretty solid effort by Travis - it's not a great album, but you'll probably like it if you're a genre fan Jan 08, 2006 I would argue that "The Invisible Band" is Travis' best album, though it's not "great" per se. Every song here is fun and catchy, even if the singer is a little questionable and the lyrics are usually not that interesting (they can be at times, however). The songs are usually pretty energetic and feature some lesser-used instruments (like the banjo on the first track), but sometimes they slow down a bit like on "Dear Diary". The best song here is easily "Side" which has "hit" written all over it. This is essentially the song that got me into this album. The instrumentation is pretty good, although it's not necessarily new. The singer's reminiscent of My Morning Jacker's Jim James at times. It's slightly a guilty pleasure, but not by a great measure. Overall, if you like pop rock then chances are you'll like this CD. Recommended!

the invisible everything Aug 23, 2005 This album has exactly what you are looking for: addictive melodies, great voice and inspired songwriting. Travis has a lot of soul. With recent interest in bands like Coldplay, Keane and Snow Patrol, (all of whom I think are wonderful), one cannot but feel that Travis implements the best of all worlds into their tableau.
