You haven't heard anything like this before... Sep 12, 2009 ambient, dissonant and Climatic. The most epic collection of noises ever orchestrate and captured. From the moment the first atmospheric riff hits you to the second the hard hitting screams fill your brain to the very end of this album.. it is a musical journey. Yes, i've heard the complaints about this music just being noisy, but if you listen to it properly, by closing your eyes and letting the music surround and move you... boy will you be moved!
Tracks 1 4 and 5 are stand outs and are enough to make even the least empathetic listener's hair stand on edge. Listen to this with an open mind...
Screamy, repetitive, and dull Aug 28, 2009 Don't buy this looking for something like Isis. This is very repetitive and unrefined. It doesn't hold a candle to Wavering Radiant or In the Absence of Truth.
The biggest annoyance is the amount and intensity of scratchy white noise - it's everpresent and overdone on almost every track. Imagine constant wind-in-microphone noise. Gets old quick and you can't listen to it at a decent volume.

The Caverns of Your Iron Core Are Home Dec 05, 2008 Easily one of the best post metal/shoegaze/whatever-you-want-to-call-it albums I've ever heard. I bought it about 2 years ago and I still listen to it an obscenely large amount of times. As mentioned in other reviews, it's 2 CDs. You have to hear them played together. It makes the album that much better. Crank the stereo, or get the best head phones you can and just listen to all the layers of music and noise.
Lyrically it's an epic story of a man who decides to travel to Europa. My take on it is that he was obsessed with Europa, and wanted to see if it was fit for life. He dreams of a euphoric life surrounded by Europa's beauty. During the trip he misses his family and loved ones. Then on the last track, disaster. He learns that his obsession with getting to Europa has left his ship unable to return (lyrics: "an orbit gone wrong"..."your dream died today"..."turning around, crumbling odds. You failed me"). And the whole story stems from A Space Odyssey (hence the monolith references in the lyrics).
Musically it's a masterpiece. Guitars echo in and out, distort, and fade (you should see this guy's effects board) perfectly with the lyrics, creating an illustration to the story being told. The bass lines are heavy and carry each song. From the first track you'll be able to understand the prominent role the bass line has in Rosetta's music. The drumming is stellar. It compliments the emotions and music perfectly.
I highly recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys the post metal/shoegaze/neurosis-isis style of music. This is the band that helped me make the transition from death metal into post metal. I wasn't a huge Isis fan after seeing them open for Tool, but the idea of that style of music intrigued me. I guess you just gotta know where to look cause now I'm hooked on the stuff.

Galilean Satelites Mar 22, 2008 The power and scope of this double-disc album is mind-blowing. If you love post-metal or experimental music you simple must hear this. Get two quality stereos, position them on both sides of you, get a comfortable chair (such as a bean bag or love sac), and be taken on an insane journey through all of space and time as you are bombarded by sonic emotion from both sides.

Stunning first album. CD1=Art Metal CD2=Dark Ambient Feb 14, 2008 Not much new to add here. This double-CD stunned me even after reading all the positive reviews. Yes, if you already like bands like ISIS and also dark industrial ambient bands such as Lustmord, you will feel right at home with this outstanding release. Some people might take issue with the growled vocals though overall this is mostly instrumental (especially CD2). Think of it like a fine alcohol or spicy cuisine, something of top quality that you may not be ready to appreciate yet due to what it asks of you. Five stars, anything less than that means you need to listen to it and this type of music more. This is Best in Class, top tier.
