The Forester Sisters greatest Hits Sep 23, 2009 I listen to music every day it is my business to listen because I do a Country Music Radio show once a week. I don't think our Female Artists are getting as much airplay as they deserve, although this is slowly changing for the better. The Forester Sisters came to my attention through a single track "Lyin' In His Arms Again". The first time I heard these girls harmonising together I knew I was listening to a unique talent. I bought their "Greatest Hits" album and I love it.
I have just bought their current album. I am sure other listeners will enjoy the Forester Sisters as much as I am.
good album Jul 15, 2009 My favorite song on this album is "Lonely Alone," though anyone who likes the Forester Sisters, as I do, will like any song on this album, as I do. They are a great group with great harmonies, and this is a great album. I love it and you will too.
A request from a friend.... Mar 21, 2009 This item is was a request from a friend... She could could not find this CD in her favorite stores... I came across it here on AMAZON and locked on it... Price was lower then on Ebay... She was very happy of this hard to find CD... As for myself, I hate county music...
Have had this album for years Aug 23, 2008 I am replacing many of my LPS with CD's (if available). I'm glad this
one was!
They Won Me Over Jan 08, 2008 I grew up during the 30's and 40's, so I listened to the Andrew Sisters. During to 50's I listened to the Chordettes and the McGuire Sisters. But none of them compares with these Forester Sisters. Not only is their harmony beautiful, it is DISTINCT. By that I mean when you listen to them you can actually pick out every voice. Having sung in, and listened to, vocal groups all my life, being able to hear the bottom voices is rare. Of course you know they're there for they make up the harmony, but it is difficult to pick them out. This is not true of the Forester Sisters. Their overall blend is comparable to the immortal sound of the inimitable Mills Brothers, but the great pleasure that comes to a vocal group enthusiast, such as myself, is when you can hear every voice that makes up the harmony. That's the Forester Sisters.
But one does not have to be a vocal group enthusiast to enjoy the singing of this quartet. You can forget their technical proficiancy and just sit back and listen to them sing. I promise you you will go away singing their songs. If an artist can cause you to do that they're worth listening to. I have this and another of their recordings, "Greatest Gospel Songs." As a result I thought they only sang religious songs. But I still enjoyed their singing, even though as an African American I sang gospel and jubilee songs in the storefront churches of Brooklyn. It just goes to show you that good music -- especially that of the human voice -- transcends time, race and culture and touches every one.
Enough already. Buy the CD. You'll it.
