An Awakening Experience Sep 26, 2009 I have been a fan of Kirk Franklin's music since the beginning. He's the artist that drew me to gospel music in the first place. This CD is by far the best that Kirk Franklin has released. While Track 1 - "Declaration" was the song that I initially played over and over, before long, I found myself listening to this CD all the way through. These lyrics have touched me and spoken to numerous battles that I've faced. I haven't been moved by an ENTIRE CD like this since CeCe Winans' Throne Room, despite the drastic differences in these two projects. Franklin definitely poured his heart into the creation of this CD.
just fine Aug 04, 2009 This was an album we just wanted for GP and it has been just that. This was not one Of Kirk Franklins best projects but we wil deal with it. Nothing to reflect on the seller. They were timely and courtious.
Isn't Ashamed to Say "JESUS" Apr 05, 2009 Where was I and WHAT was I doing when this cd came out? I JUST started listening to this about two months ago, and I am even more excited about this album than ever before. If I didn't know this by now, this album alone has reminded me that when Kirk comes out with a new album, I better just hurry up and get that!
Regardless of how people feel about Kirk Franklin personally (because there will always be criticism, I am not innocent of that), we must remember that G-d can use anyone and also you gotta appreciate what he is doing in terms of advancing the Lord's kingdom and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Though the music is younger, hipper and maybe even more for dancing and head-bopping, when you listen to the WORDS, you gotta admit there is something genuinely special here.
What I admire the most about this album is the honesty and integrity of it. Mr. Franklin tackles issues like fatherless youth, gaining momentum again when you've been struck down, urges us to remember that we are supposed to be the Jesus that people see everyday, and gives reassurance that G-d is still in control no matter what is going on. Wow. And thats only a few songs.
But what I have to say I like the MOST, is the name of Jesus being raised and lifted up on this album. Christians are so politically correct these days and its heartbreaking when we are afraid to say "Jesus" anymore. Mr. Franklin encourages us to be bold, be confident, and even to have fun again in serving Christ our savior.
I am definitely more preachy than the album feels or sounds like, but to those who are searching for Gospel music that MEANS something these days, you ought to pick this one up.
Thanks Mr. Franklin for another amazing debut. May the Lord bless you and may His face SHINE upon you.
Kirk continues to push the envelope in Gospel! Dec 29, 2008 I like Kirk Franklin and his particular ministry, regardless of what anyone says. I respect what he attempts to do with the ministry God has given him...and this CD is an example of him giving it his all to push the envelope in ministry. This CD stretched me...it took me a bit longer to listen to (throughout) than usual but once I did, I must say that I did enjoy it. I respect the risks that Kirk Franklin takes and the faith that he puts in the people to receive this 'different' music and really get the message behind the beats. After a few listens to this CD, I was ready to face the fight with the powerful ministry in these songs. This CD does not compare to Hero, but it is a job well done.
Amazing Franklin Dec 15, 2008 Great CD. Full of songs to lift you into the spirit and give thanks to God! :)
