Highly Addictive Dec 13, 2008 This is a great band from Denmark. I'm really glad to see that they're doing well in the US. They put on a great show, and their music is highly addictive. If you stumble upon their website check out their videos - they're witty and creative.
This is one of my favorite albums and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to check out something new.

Good, not great May 07, 2008 A few weeks ago I was browsing cable and came across a channel other than MTV that plays music videos. I don't remember the name of the station, however, I do remember the video playing; Solo Impala, by the Fashion. The video was interesting and the sound of this song was unique.
I have a caveat to admit to: I'm a sucker for anyone who sings about being a robber or somehow alludes to getting away with misdeeds in their song. The chorus is "go on, take the money and run." I'm always a fan. However, I should have learned my lesson with the Cold War Kids. Its a cheap trick and I end up thinking the band is better than they really are.
When I saw the video, the album was not available in the US and only has recently been released here. I waited anxiously and just bought it. And...eh. I'm kind of glad that I finally bought some music that I haven't loved unconditionally. I thought perhaps I was not as critical as I once was, but in reality I was just picking really good music.
This album is good, but not great. There are a couple songs that have a good riff. They mix a garage sound with some grating vocals. Some songs are unique and something I'd like to hear more of, e.g., The Funeral Dept. Unfortunately, most of the album is just run of the mill indie. There are lyrics that I don't understand in any context and I'm content listening to just those couple songs on my ipod.
Its a deal for 9 bucks as an amazon download. Do not pay 40 bucks for an import though. Or even 12+ shipping if you are buying the actual CD. Or just purchase Solo Impala. Its good enough that your friends will ask who the band is when you play it on your mix CD and will earn you some respect.
