Worked for me! Nov 18, 2009 A friend of mine read this book and quit smoking. When she told me about it, I didn't pay any attention. Fast forward 2 years. Another friend of hers quit using this method, passed it on to another gal who quit and then told me, "Read the book." When I said that I didn't WANT to stop smoking, she said, "Read it anyway." Mind you, we're all in our 50's and smoking a long time. I had been smoking more than 40 years. Being curious, I came here on amazon.com to read the reviews. That made me VERY curious, so I bought the book. Still didn't want to quit smoking, but read it anyway. And then I didn't want to smoke. I quit for 3 months and then started smoking again. After a few weeks of smoking again, I decided to set aside some time on the weekend to read the book all the way through in one sitting, this time with the intention of quitting and I did. That was more than 20 months ago. Do I still have the desire to smoke? Well, not usually, but the desire kicks in every now and again. At this point, it's short-lived and easy to deal with tho. One other person I know who read the book and quit was about 70 years old and smoking nearly 53 years. She started smoking again after about a year and a half tho. Just so you know it's not infallible. I've used several methods to quit smoking over the years and this has been the best. You have to want to stop smoking tho.
Bottom line -- it works Nov 14, 2009 In a nutshell: this book works. I've been an ex-smoker for nine months now (as of 11/11) and I couldn't be happier! I also don't miss smoking. Alan's book may be a brainwashing method for all I know, but I don't care! It worked, and I recommend it to every smoker I know.
Allen Carr saves lives Nov 13, 2009 Allen Carr probably deserves a Nobel Prize in Medicine (or perhaps the Peace Prize) more than many actual recipients. Thanks, sir, for your incredible insight and genius. You save lives.
stood the test of time Nov 10, 2009 I was doubtful when I ordered this book, but I am now a believer. I don't know why it works, but that's okay. I know that it has been over a year and a half since I've had a cigarette. I just quit. Poof. Done. No whining. No drama. Just like that. I had smoked for years and years, but I quit before I finished this book. Do something good for yourself and buy this book...then when YOU quit, come back and tell people it works. If it doesn't work, put the book away, and pick it back up when you want to quit.
helps stop smoking Nov 06, 2009 Different ways work on different people.
People I know stopped smoking with this book - you should try it or get it as a present to someone you care about that smokes.
