Over 60 music we remember & love/ed. Jan 19, 2009
As I am over 60+, this music brings good memories & some bad ones, but it is still very good because it tells a story of life as we older folks remember it and loved it.

Bought for my husband. The story of the Browns (2 sisters and a brother) is fascinating. The sound is sweeet country from way back.

One of my very early Vinyl Albums and I had been looking for a CD Browns Collection for years.This set surpassed my hopes.The beautiful harmonies of The Browns mark them as a magic link between traditional Blue Grass and 50s-60s C @ W.

This compilation consists of some of the most perfect harmony ever recorded. Although The Browns ... Jim Ed, Maxine and Bonnie ... were first presented as a "country" music group, their unbeatable talent crossed over into the "pop" music charts.
It is said that family groups have that "built-in" talent, when it comes to close harmony. Certainly, The Mills Brothers, The Ames Brothers, The Andrews Sisters and several other well known acts had it, but this trio, consisting of a brother and his two sisters, spotlighted a special "shine" in their voices. Their musical selections literally light up the room! And although most of the tracks in this collection were recorded many years ago, they are ageless!
I share the feelings of many people when asking, "Why aren't The Browns in the Country Music Hall-of-Fame?" Their excellent recordings allowed "country" music to be heard in delicate places! They were ground-breakers, as you will note in this monumental study of their wonderful works.
As a very important side-note: You might want to check out Maxine Brown's never-a-dull-moment biography, "Looking Back To See"! Maxine presents many interesting and revealing "backstage" stories about some of the greatest names in entertainment, including Elvis, Johnny Cash, and others. She knew them all, personally! This outstanding book is available through Amazon.

Great collection by this underated group. Has just about everything I wanted by them (It does miss one of my favoite Browns singles "Buttons & Bows", but it didn't chart so I guess I can't complain) Excellent liner notes too. I recomend for any fan of country/ pop sibling harmony.
