Whitney For Beginners Sep 29, 2009 There is honestly no doubt about the return of Whitney Houston this month. With her coming back out of the darkness and into the light again, beating her demons from abuse, her divorce with Bobby Brown and heartbreak, and roared her way back to the charts, she has fully redefined herself all over again as a first-class diva by topping the charts for the first time in nearly a decade. But, there is so much more she is set to celebrate soon. Not only did her recent comeback album, the souful and intimate I Look To You, debut at #1 on Billboard back in September, but next year it will be 25 years since she broke out with her very first record, the self-titled Whitney Houston, and began her spotlight reign as simply "the voice." But, there are those whom haven't yet owned a Whitney Houston record, or even heard her voice for the first time. Well, aside from that, a new three-pack of her most acclaimed records has finally hit the stores, and shows that the voice has really defined what music sounds like.
The Collection: Whitney Houston, is a compilation featuring Whitney's 3 most acclaimed albums of the 80's and 90's, the best-selling 1985 Whitney Houston, 1987's Whitney, and the soulful and dominant 1998 album My Love Is Your Love. The songs here have all been remastered well, and include her most soulful songs that defined and influenced so many singers. The 3-pack includes her greats from dance tracks like My Love Is Your Love, Heartbreak Hotel with Faith Evans & Kelly Price, the Urban-driven and intimate My Love Is Your Love, and the upbeat classic I Wanna Dance With Somebody, all the way to her most soulful ballads like Where Do Broken Hearts Go, her first mainstream #1 songs Saving All My Love For You & The Greatest Love Of All, as well as strong-striking duets including her first major single Hold Me with the soulful Teddy Pendergrass, her Oscar-winning duet When You Believe with Mariah carey from The Prince Of Egypt, and I Know Him So Well, with her mother, Gospel singer Cissy Houston. The songs here are refreshing to listen too all over again from heart and soul and simply straight from the strength of the voice within.
After everything she went through from heartbreak and loss, it definitely is so good to hear Whitney Houston's music alive and being loved again, and The Collection: Whitney Houston is a great reintroduction for anybody whom has missed hearing her sing, but a great purchase for anyone who is new to her collectin of great records, and a great 2nd chance for anyone whom had thrown copies of her records away, because of how much she was labeled as a joke, and wants to feel her songs all over again. I absolutely recommend this three-pack a lot for anyone who has heard too much of the wannabe divas like Rihanna and Miley Cyrus, and should start hearing what a real voice from the heart and soul should sound like.
