Good album Sep 12, 2009 My favorite album because more punky than most Avril albums, although there are still a couple nice ballads. Many songs and guitar rifts definitely influenced by her husband (from Sum 41) and other songs sound like blink 182 (one song's drum beat, guitar and melody sounds just like Blink 182).
Sad but true.... Lavigne sold out. Aug 06, 2009 This won't take me long. Avril Lavigne's two previous albums had been somehow great and catchy in her own terms and somehow (I must repeat that word) I though I was listening to the next Alanis Morrissette but of course... I was wrong. I like Avril Lavigne and I think she is a talented little girl that was on her way to come up with her best album ever. "The best damn thing" carries in its name the first mistake conceived. Lavigne tries to sell the idea that this album is the best she has done and she might've said that when it was to be released but honestly this record is far from being mentioned that way or even to be remembered in a near future. The main problem that I must point out from this album is that Lavigne took "the easy road" to come up with it. As a fan i never understood how she was able to come up with a song like "Take me away" (Under my skin-2004) which I found interesting (musically speaking) or the songs "Nobody's home" (Under my skin-2008) and "Mobile" (Let go-2002) that were pretty great when now on this record we find songs like "Girlfriend" (her worst song so far... bad idea to be chosen as a first single), "The best damn thing" (kind of embarrasing lyrics) and "Everything back but you (mmmm... it seems that Lavigne wants to be Green Day here but instead she sounded like Blink-182).
I just hope that Avril Lavigne finds herself again to come up with an album that reflects her talent.
Avril Lavigne is one of the great young artists. Apr 24, 2009 I like Avril Lavigne because she has her own sound and writes her own material. Her voice is distinctive, and she's not out there copying everyone else in order to go along for the ride. She's unique and original. It's nice to see young artists attempting to keep rock music alive in an era of hip-hop and rap. I have all her CD's, and will be a fan for life.

The best damn album! Apr 06, 2009 This is the way punk is supposed to be: In your face, aggressive and catchy! Garbage like the Sex Pistols and Ramones are for old farts with no taste in music. Check out this killer album if you want to get on with your rebellious side. Avril is the definition of punk! Other old people like Patti Smith were just wannabes.
She's the best damn thing Mar 26, 2009 I loved the first two albums, but when I initially listened to this album, I was a little disappointed. But the more I listened, the more I liked it. It's definately a different style from her other albums, and initially it seems just plain hyper, but after you get used to it, it's refreshinly upbeat.
