Exquisite Film/Music Jan 30, 2010 This album is incredible. People have complained that it's too repetitive, which may be the case, but I really enjoyed the film. The film definitely enhances the music and vice versa. If you have a longer attention span, you'll most likely love this as well.
How astonishing Dec 16, 2009 UP to now, I've had a hard time describing Sufjan's musical style to others, but settled for: "folksy, blue grassy, with classical riffs." But with BQE, we're no longer talking about just "nice music." Instead, we're looking at a possible new American musical genius along the lines of Philip Glass. I only have two albums besides this one, can't wait to take a listen to some of the others.
Sufjan Stevens Does It Again!!!! :-D Dec 03, 2009 Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R246ZMHJ6IX951 Sufjan Steven's always has delightful music. He has a good ear and a good eye. His brilliant idea to capture The BQE in order to display it's beauty was quite successful. I was mesmerized by the rapid motion of the cars and juxtaposing images. There are a few times where we may think our eyes are playing tricks on us, but really that is just Sufjan and cinema magic. The hula hoops were also a fun touch. I totally recommend listening to these tracks with imagery. It's an enjoyable trip!
A Roadway Melody Dec 01, 2009 The brief Prelude misleads you by setting a tone of repetitive roadway sounds, but even it becomes more interesting upon close listening. The remaining 12 movements are all rather short -- an intriguing and melodic symphony! Sufjan Stevens is truly a creative composer.
A classic is born Dec 01, 2009 I have just listened and viewed this album. Sufjan Stevens is a truly gifted person. I was able to get this CD/DVD sent to Australia with shipping cheaper than any place I have been able to find the collection locally. Thanks Amazon you did again.
