Like fine china Feb 12, 2010 This album is like a pice of fine china, showing off Annie Lennox's smoothe, smokey voice. I enjoy every track, but the ones I like best are Walking on Broken Glass, No More I Love Yous, A whiter Shade of Pale, A Thousand Beautiful Things, Love Song for a Vampire, and Shining Light.
I first heard it by checking it out of our public library. Once I listened to it, I knew I wanted a copy of my own.
Wonderful, But Incomplete Feb 07, 2010
I once heard a rumor that Aretha Franklin once paid Annie Lennox the ultimate compliment of declaring her one of "the best soul singers I have ever heard." I could very easily believe that this is true. The vocal talents of Annie Lennox, ranging from ethereal to playful to soaring, are rarely bestowed. And this album's fourteen tracks are a fantastic "sampler" of her virtuosity.
My problem, like the other reviewers, is lack of completeness. While this album is most assuredly worth the money, the absence of works like "Hush, Hush, Hush" and the agonizingly beautiful "Into the West" leave an unfilled hole. And more, I would also like to see a Lennox anthology that includes her work from the film "1984" like the hard-edged "SexCrime" and the breathtaking "Julia."
Still, it's Annie Lennox, a woman, in my opinion, who is a "Prima Diva" in the old, best sense of the title. Lovely work, dazzling voice, unbelieveable range.
Recommended, but I still want my complete collection!

A really great album, very pleasant to listen to Dec 31, 2009 I've been a fan of Annie Lennox since I first encountered her work in the early 1980s. She's come a long way, but strangely she sounds the same as she always did. Her strength was always her smooth, resonant voice which always sounds good, no matter how the songs change.
This album, her last one with Sony BMG, is really a work of art. It has a lot of good tracks, which show off her beautiful voice. I like most all of the tracks, and found that my favorites are ones that I have never heard before, including A Thousand Beautiful Things, and Love Song for a Vampire. Strangely, my favorite track of them all is A Whiter Shade of Pale - would it be heresy to say that this might be the absolutely best version of that song every sung?
This is a really great album, very pleasant to listen to. I highly recommend it!
bellaart lover Dec 28, 2009 Just got into Annie Lenox, and this album is really full of her hits. I enjoy singing along. Also recently a friend of mine passed away...the song Why has special value to me.
Awesome CD Oct 11, 2009 One of my favorite CD's of all time. I listen to it all the time.
