I like it Nov 17, 2009 The music sticks with you which is what I consider a sign for liking a CD. I like her Juke Box release more though.
juliette's got some pipes!!! Nov 05, 2009 Not a bad listen. Omar's always GOLD. Not very MarsVolta-ish so if that's what ur looking for stop here. Lil' trippy here and there and that radio release (sumthin' bout a bar???) is terribly repetitive. 3 and a half stars is more accurate.
Disappointing Oct 23, 2009 I have the three previous cd's by Juliette (and the Licks) and was very much looking forward to this new album. Unfortunately Juliette seems to me to have become involved with the wrong kind of musicians /producers who did nothing for her voice and music. Her otherwise powerful and warm voice sounds muffled and muted, and the songs seem uninspired and boring. Gone are the raw enthousiasm and energy which were present with the Licks.
I can listen to her for hours, but I will play one of the previous cd's to do so. I will stay a fan though, and will go to her concert in november in Amsterdam. So Juliette, if you read this: drop the new producer and start making music again!
disappointed Oct 17, 2009 I was disappointed in this CD. There are only 2 songs that I think are good. Fantacy Bar and the title song. The rest were just plain weird or she tried to hard to sound like Janis Joplin. SHes a great show woman and actor though.

WTF II Sep 25, 2009 WTF is right---LOL. That's this album in a nutshell.
As much as I like Juliette as a person, The Licks were far more interesting than this stuff.
Maybe they were going for "edgy" on this album, or something---but whatever---it didn't work. I think they entitled the album correctly: In the Latin, "terra incognitus" can be translated as "unknown land" or in this case, maybe they meant "unfamiliar territory", which makes sense as I'm totally unfamiliar with what this group is trying to purvey here.
Lewis' former band "The Licks" were nearly happening, but I guess after two albums and a lot of touring Lewis decided to throw in the towel. Maybe their record deal was just for two albums, I don't know.
Lewis actually CAN sing, so competency isn't the issue. In my opinion, there's something about her combination of looks and personality that endear her to a lot of people. So, with all of that going for her, I believe she just needs the right team and the right material. "Terra Incognita" wasn't it, though.
Better luck next time, Juliette.
