Teddy's first and still his strongest. May 25, 2008
Teddy Pendergrass, one of the finest male R&B vocalists ever.
This was his first solo album after he left Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.
To me it's still his best. Produced by Philly Soul's cream of the crop Gamble and Huff and McFadden and Whitehead this is soul at its finest.
Tightest arrangements, the best male voice at his peak, great melodies and good and intense lyrics. This was made to dance, to have fun, sure, but if you'd listen to what Teddy's saying you'll realize the depth of the message.
Musicians? Oh woow! Pushy Drums and Percussion Keith Benson, Karl Chambers, Charles Collins and Larry Washington; The Best of Horns MFSB; Keys Ron Kersey, Dexter Wansel, Victor Carstarphen; Guitar Roland Chambers, Dennis Harris; Bass Michael "Sugar Bear" Foreman, James Williams
The follow ups Life is a Song Worth Singing, Teddy and TP were more successful but this one is unique - his freshest if you ask me.
After surviving a horrible car accident Teddy returned to the scene singing from a wheelchair. He's still Teddy but this first one will probably forever stay unreached.

THIS IS THE CD FOR THE GROWN AND SEXY!!!PHILLY SOUL TURNED UP AT AT HIGH NOTCH,TEDDY P. THIS GENT TOOK SOUL TO ANOTHER LEVEL WHEN HE WENT SOLO,WHAT A MAGNIFICENT DEBUT,WHEN MARVIN WAS OFF AND TRIPPING ,THIS GENT TOOK THE LEAD RUNNING,THE SONG "IF I HAD " WAS POWERFUL! THE WHOLE TOWN'S LAUGHING WAS A BLUE LIGHT IN THE BASEMENT MASTERPIECE,TRACK AFTER TRACK OF GREAT MUSIC..........TIMELESS

I REMEMBER BUYING THIS LP WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT. MY FRIENDS AND I WOULD PLAY IT ALL NIGHT. WHEN I SEEN IT ON AMAZON I JUST HAD TO HAVE IT.
AFTER ALL THIS TIME IT STILL SOUND GOOD. THIS IS TEDDY AT HIS BEST .
WHEN I FIRST GOT MY CD I PLAYED IT ALL DAY.I WOULD TAKE IT FROM MY TRUCK TO THE HOUSE AND BACK AND FORTH . IT BROUGHT BACK GOOD MEMORYS AND BAD.
I WOULD TELL ANYONE IF YOU WANT TO HEAR TEDDY PENDERGRASS AT HIS BEST GET THIS CD.

This was teddys first solo album(after he left harold melvin & the blue notes) when you play this cd you can tell that a lot of time and efford went into this project.Every song from you can,t hide to somebody told me
is a gem.This was the first of four teddy albums in my opinon that teddy, gamble & huff and the philly sound came thru.Great vocals by teddy on this one it is a classic that stands the test of time enjoy!

TP is easily one of the all time greats.I would want to say no one does it beter, and I can listen to his voice forever, so inspiring, I'd even
like to be able to sing like him! Such a talented guy! Up there with Marvin Gaye, Lionel Ritchie,David Ruffin ,Jeffrey Osborne, and Ella and all the other singers that make my life so much joy! thanks guys!
