Review of Amazon Service and product "Tattooed Millionaire" CD Aug 16, 2009 Searched quite a few different sites for this "Birthday Gift".....Found on Amazon.com at great price for item and shipping...CD is excellent....Highly reccommended for Bruce Dickenson Fans....
Not at all Iron Maiden, but a fun album Jul 24, 2009 After Iron Maiden's seven albums in the 80s, they pretty much were in a league of their own musically. When this came out I snatched it up, and was very surprised that it was nothing like I expected. Iron Maiden, and Bruce with them, had a powerful, mystical, and intelligent style that set them apart, where this album (and, to a lesser degree, the Iron Maiden albums that followed it) sounded more like mainstream hard rock/metal. I expected more from Bruce, the metal genius who provided us with songs like "Revelations" and "Powerslave", but it seems that after having such high quality stuff with Maiden, here he was just having a bit of fun.
And, on that count, it works. It's not epic or as musically intricate as Iron Maiden, but there's some good hard/rock metal here, and although some of the lyrics are more humorous/innuendo-ish (along the lines of AC/DC or Aerosmith), there's also some down-to-earth introspective lyrics about life and the world around him. So, don't buy it expecting Iron Maiden, but it's certainly an enjoyable and listenable album. (If you want to hear stuff along the lines of Iron Maiden, Bruce's later solo albums are excellent and more what you'd expect from him - try "Chemical Wedding", it's on a par with the best of Maiden, although it lacks Steve Harris's distinctive style).
Not his best work May 03, 2009 I'm being generous when I give it three stars. I'm a huge fan of Bruce Dickinson, both his work with Iron Maiden and his solo work so I felt like I had to give him at least a passing grade.
Born in 58 and Tattooed Millionaire are both catchy tunes, though simple ones that sound like they were written in a single evening. Can't say the rest of the stuff is much to speak of, so I won't.
I've owned this CD for 3 year and haven't listened to it in probably the last year so I guess I must not think it's too great.
The first one... Feb 25, 2009 If you're Maiden fan, don't wait the same thing. Remember, this is alternative proyect of Dickinson. Is amazing!!!!! The song Tattoed Millionaire is just excelent (one of my favorites).
If you havent listen any of Dickinson at solist, I recommend this one or Accident of the birth or Chemical Wedding.
Not Maiden But Still Great Dec 27, 2008 This is a great debut solo CD from Bruce. Alot of Maiden fans were turned off by this CD because it didn't sound like Maiden. Being that Dickinson was still a member of Maiden at the time and released this in 1990 between Maiden's "Seventh Son..." and "No Prayer For The Dying" I'm confused why fans thought it was going to sound like Maiden. What would be the point of recording a solo record if that was the case. Instead we get a bit of pure hard rock that at times sounds more like AC/DC than Maiden and even Bruce's "air raid" vocals are toned down to more straight out hard rock than metal. First five tracks are fantastic most specifically the title track, "Born in 58" and "Gypsy Road". The second half of the CD and bonus tracks aren't quite as good but still better than most of the similar types of hard rock/pop metal coming out in 1990. The cover of "All the Young Dudes" is also great. Bottom line, this is a solid CD and allowed Bruce to do some songs that he couldn't do with Maiden.
