Kelis has always been game to subvert expectations. "Caught Out There," from her 1999 debut, Kaleidoscope, had her storming the airwaves with a chant of "I hate you so much right now!" After a sophomore disc that didn't see release in America, she returns with "Milkshake," a schoolyard taunt for grownup girls. The minimalist Neptunes production was an obvious first single from Tasty, but the CD hardly stops there. From collaborations with Andre 3000 ("Millionaire," a showcase for the OutKast frontman's falsetto) and Nas (the randy "In Public") and a rap-rock exercise ("Keep It Down") to irresistible updates of early-'80s R&B ("Protect My Heart," "Glow"), the disc offers plenty in the way of potential follow-ups. While less playful than some of her past work, Tasty brings a raised eyebrow and good humor to the 21st century sex-u-up template. --Rickey Wright

Kelis is unique she has her own style and she has talent just listen to some of her previouse albums Wanderland,Kaleidoscope and youll understand her story.

Good beats. Good vibe. This album is simple in a minimalistic way yet sophisticated in its combination of compelling musical and seductive lyrical elements. It's really a shame that artists feel the need to 'clean up' their albums. Get the explicit version. This is an album that's urban, sophisticated, and a great one-on-one party album for anyone 18 or older. Should children be listening to it? I agree with the earlier reviewer - let the parents decide.

The cd is good. Every song is great. The best cd of this year. For that person who said it sucks they are basing the cd on ONE song. She has 14 GREAT songs on here. They must be a sucky DJ in Seattle. Get the Album its GREAT.

I'm a DJ in Seattle -- School dances, Ice & Roller rinks, and on-air. I can't even play the "clean" version of Milkshake. You can take-out the "explicit" words, but you can't change what the song is all about. Don't waste your money -- Find something else worth listening to! (Try Out Of Eden, Verbs, KJ-52, Stacie Orrico) Parents, read the lyrics before you buy it. (...)
