Reading with Tequila Nov 18, 2009 I loved the romance with a touch of fantasy in this story. I loved the characters. I loved the premise. Basically I loved this book. But, and it's kind of a big but, once the romantic interest turned to romantic action, I got pretty weirded out. The concept of being the adult friend of a young child, even if you are imaginary, and then becoming sexually involved with that child when they are in their thirties is a little too pedophile-esque for my taste. Once the thought occurred, it distracted me from the rest of the book. I couldn't get past it, which is the only reason that took this 5 shot book to 4 shots.
Reviews from Brizmus Blogs Books Nov 13, 2009 What a great IDEA! Unfortunately, I wish that someone else had gotten to it first. I mean, seriously, how cool would it be to have an imaginary friend when you are little. And then to run into him later in life and fall in love. SO many amazing things could have been done with this idea, and I just feel like James Patterson didn't go nearly as far as he should have and didn't do nearly as much as he could have. He didn't take the idea and run with it, so to speak. The imaginary friend wasn't well enough explained, the love story was so under developed that it was basically not developed, and the mother of the main character was stereotypical and seen a thousand times before.
That said, it was still pleasant enough to read, and the idea was good enough that the book had no choice but to be exciting. I was never once bored, and I never felt like it lagged.
All in all, an okay book.
Who Should Read It?For anyone interested in reading a good, sweet love story with a twist
A Waste of an Afternoon... Nov 11, 2009 I'm not sure what I was expecting when I bought this book. I guess I was hoping for a well-written romance with a bit of fantasy thrown in for good measure. What I got was a rough draft for the latest improbable Hollywood romance. Flat characters coupled with completely unbelievable dialogue and situations. And an afternoon that I will never get back.
I almost stopped reading this book, but I pressed on, hoping for the best. I really wished I hadn't bothered.
Wonderful love story Nov 11, 2009 Sunday at Tiffany's is a great book for anyone looking to curl up on a lazy sunday afternoon and just have a great read. Get lost in the fairy tale that James Patterson eloquently put together. The characters are engaging and wonderful. The book is rather short; but still a great read.
Cute but a little Creepy Nov 07, 2009 The whole imaginary friend thing is just too difficult to get past. A cute love story, but a tiny bit creepy. Almost like incest creepy. The mother daughter relationship was not developed enough and all of a sudden their relationship problems were resolved at the end. Mediocre "junk food" reading.
