Pink Martini is expanding its range with `Splendor In The Grass' and I love it. China Forbes is still doing beautiful bi-lingual vocals as Pink Martini fans have come to enjoy. The added attractions on this album are Ari Shapiro doing a vocal, and Gavin Brody on trumpet. You might even hear traces of Sergio Mendes and Brian Setzer jive. You might not like every track, but that comes from pushing the boundaries. For 15 bucks I know you will find something on this album that will make you happy. Pink Martini fascinates me because you never know what they will do next.

As expected, Pink Martini has come through again. An EXCELLENT eclectic collection of songs and music. I can't get enough!

Another Stellar Release Nov 12, 2009
After three outstanding albums, Pink Martini does it again with a simply stunningly beautiful album. PM fans will not be disappointed.
China Forbes' voice is as exotic, gorgeous and stirring as ever. The songs range from the solemn and moving (Ninna nanna, New Amsterdam) to festive and bouncy (But Now I'm Back, Bitty Boppy Betty). Two songs in the middle are a bit slow, but that's a minor issue, not nearly enough to drop my rating from anything but a solid five stars.
As usual, the CD booklet contains lyrics for all songs (including English translations for foreign language songs) and fun band pictures.
Overall, another stellar release. PM fans, rejoice!

These guys are amazing. My girl and never miss them when they tour our area. what can i say about this album,"simply amazing". well done Pink Martini.

I am a HUGE fan of Pink Martini - I can sing all their songs from the first 3 albums by heart - I've nearly worn OUT my CDs. This CD, however, is an enormous disappointment. New writer? There's no enthusiasm, no 'fun'. China Forbes sounds like she's just seeing the music for the first time - or she's as bored as the listener. The songs do not take advantage of her beautiful voice - they seem to stay close in range, and are ... well, boring, and truthfully? A little 'off'. I'll keep listening to my first 3 CD's (and buying them for gifts) but THIS one's going out in the trash. Really, listen to the first three, and you'll never believe this one is by the same people.
