AFTER FOREST CAME THIS!!! Nov 25, 2005 This is very underrated/unknown!!!
FOREST..was to me the best album ever made in MUSIC history!!! then to follow it up CATHEDRAL made this ep!!
Now on here Cathedral throw in some grove and really get ya near dancing!! THIS IS STILL HEAVY AS FUKK!!! just not as heavy as the first album...but then what is??
This is FUKKING MANDATORY!!!!!
Your recipe for DOOM..first CATHEDRAL ep, FOREST..,this EP!!!!!! I dig this stuff till no END!!!
''FROZEN RAPTURE'' could be right off the first album..so you know what yer getting into here!!

Is Good...Real Good Aug 28, 2004 For being a four song EP, Cathedral's "Soul Sacrifice" is more than well worth owing. The EP is a bridge between doom-death metal and roots metal from the `70's (i.e. Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc.). Cathedral is very successful in pulling off this melding of the two sounds into one - one that is modern sounding, yet classic structure. This is illustrated in possibly one best Cathedral songs ever, "Autumn Twilight". Here the band flirts with introducing vocal harmony to their phastasmally powerful, demon chords. The version of "Soul Sacrifice" is longer than the one found on "Forest of Equilibrium". The guitar sound on this record is much brighter than the muted, dull sound on the full length LP. Lee Dorian's vocals are more up-tempo and he has taken some of the growl of out of his voice, but without sacrificing it's hauntingly evil fluctuations. "Frozen Rapture" and "Golden Blood" are great songs, too. The former starts out with a sludgy doom tempo, but shifts to a faster pace reminiscent of a Sabbath-type groove. Also, check out the Arthur Brown-style, creepy organ in this song. "Golden Blood" has some great acoustic breaks that are particularly effective when coupled with the spooky vocals. All in all, this is great piece of work and a must have for any Cathedral fan.
