Everything was good until Oct 19, 2009 Everything was alright, not great but good enough, until the very last song. I couldn't believe he put that on the CD. It would have been better to just leave it off as it is totaly out of place with the rest of the music. It made me uncomfortable just to listen to it. This was my first CD from John Rich so I can't compare it to anything. Am I likely to buy another John Rich CD, probably not.
Awesome Solo Album Sep 15, 2009 I found everything I wanted to know about the CD by looking at the comments the sellers give us such as the quality of the case, the condition of the CD, etc. before I bought it. I feel that information is important to me because I want to know the quality of the product before I purchase it online. Seeing the ranking of each seller assures that the seller can be trusted. As for the CD itself, it is a great solo album. The songs go directly to the heart of the matter whether it be a political stand on what's happening here in America, breaking up, getting the courage to ask someone to marry them, and wondering if any of us kids make our parents proud when we grow up ( if we grow up at all). When I first heard "Shuttin' Detroit Down" on the radio, I thought who sings this. It took three times hearing it on the radio to find out it was John Rich and I wanted it. He sang a few songs at the concert I attended and I was hooked. John Rich has a great voice for ballads and country/rock songs.

About What I Expected Jul 11, 2009 When Big & Rich debuted with Horse Of A Different Color a few years back I was hooked. Although "Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy" is one of the largest insults to the intellegence of a country music fan ever created, the rest of the album managed to be true to country music roots while expanding the sound. After that album they started going for mainstreem "pop" country radio thus resulting in there 2nd and 3rd albums being very subpar.
After being letdown by the duo so majorly I had no interest in this solo project by John Rich. "Shuttin' Detroit Down" furthered my uninterest in this album. My father though, being a fan of everything on CMT bought it as quickly as it was released so I figured "what the heck. I might as well check it out." Well after listening to it I will say any fan of the current mainstream "pop" country trend will enjoy this album. Being a fan of more traditional sounding country music, I was very dissatisifed with this album and have officially gave up on Big & Rich releasing another album that is enjoyable from beginning to end.
An excellent CD May 23, 2009 John Rich has a great voice, he recorded some great songs. I like this CD very much.
I'm a new fan of John Rich May 12, 2009 I have a special admiration for artists who write their own material.
I admit, I bought this for "Shuttin' Detroit Down" (I love that song, as well as the video) and fortunately, the rest of the album is pretty good, too. "Another You" is simply a great song. "Why Does Somebody Always Have to Die" is powerful. Like others have said, the arrangement on "Drive Myself to Drink" seems a little out of place, but it's a fun song so it's not a big deal. It's a fine assortment -- something for the working man, some political, some love songs. Lyrics are included, which is always a plus. This is a solid album.
The first thing you see when you open this CD is a big "thank you for buying the record" from John Rich. You're welcome, John!
