Sing-A-Longs & Lullabies for the Film Curious George (Jack Johnson) Oct 19, 2009 This is definitely one of my favorites from Jack Johnson. It's upbeat music is perfect for adults all the while catering to the child in you.
Great for all ages Sep 14, 2009 As stated in the title, this album is great for all ages. I purchased it for my kids, but find myself listening to it, often. If you want a soothing, mellow, fun album for your kids, this is it.
An all-ages CD to bring out the kid in everybody Jun 29, 2009 In a world where stress often reigns supreme, the music on this disc may lower your blood pressure a notch or two. From the first song to the closing note, there's something so innocent, hopeful and even communal about Jack Johnson and Friends' "Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies for the film Curious George" CD. Throughout the album, themes of camaraderie, staying positive and friendship pop up like blooming flowers. Some of the ditties, like "Jungle Gym" and "The Sharing Song," are just plain fun. Johnson's vibe and lilting voice on each gentle tune is breezily laid-back, while his lyrics are practical poems for kids and adults alike. The messages within the songs are clear-eyed, observant and childlike. Even themes like sharing with others and recycling masterfully come off as non-preachy and joyous in Johnson's hands.
Created with kids in mind, there's also an adult bent to the songs, and positive vibes radiate everywhere. "People Watching," for instance, comes across like a tonic for loneliness, conveying that we're all similar in many ways and in this world together. "We're Going to be Friends" is a spot-on, sweetly sung rendition of the White Stripes original, and it fits this CD like a well-worn baseball mitt. And Johnson's gentle guitar plucking on tunes like "Wrong Turn," "Lullaby" and "Supposed to Be" denote a somber tone that conveys life isn't always perfect, but it does contain great moments.
Johnson's smooth, easygoing voice matches the soft music played around him. Along with his band, well-known musicians like Ben Harper and G. Love also assist. From learning and recalling life's lessons in a joyous way to simply enjoying great music, this cozy CD is a definite winner.
Great album for kids and adults alike Apr 13, 2009 This album is great for the kids and the adults who can't deny good music when they hear it. It is a shame that there are so few artists who have the message Jack Johnson has.
Not your average children's movie soundtrack Apr 01, 2009 I've always loved Jack Johnson, but I have to admit, I was a little cautious about buying his Curious George soundtrack. How could a bunch of songs aimed at young children possibly appeal to adults? Well, somehow, it does. The songs' simple (but not irritatingly childish) messages are accompanied with the same cool Johnson beats we all know & love. I totally bust out this CD while driving or hanging out with friends, and I always forget I'm listening to a "children's" CD.
