Voice of an angel. Jun 27, 2009 Ronnie Spector (Bennett) still has her trademark voice. This CD was produced by the late Joey Ramone and his influence is easily noticed. I suggest this item to any Ronnie Spector fans or any simple hard rock fans. Her rendition of "Don't Worry Baby" is like a lullabye.
She Talks To Us Too Jun 26, 2008 Oh Ronnie, how I love thee! And while looking for a picture of this little EP to post on my blog I discoverd Ronnie has just released a new album Last Of The Rock Stars (the cover has a picture of her just smoking on a cig and acting so teenage cool) and you can bet I'm going to get that cuz well, this beeeatch is the best.
It's no wonder Eddie Money rang up the girl to sing her famous "be my little baby" line on his song back in the 80s and it's also no wonder this album is produced by Joey Ramone and the Ramone's producer Daniel Rey, everyone is in awe of this scratchy voiced chanteuse.
Here are 5 songs that prove what a great singer she is. The title track is a Ramones song and it is one of the best songs I have ever heard - of course it's this version that makes it so, I have put it on numbers of compilations because it's just so frickin' good.
Also included is a cover of the Beach Boy's "Don't Worry Baby" which Brian Wilson actually wrote for Ronnie back in the 60s but she wasn't allowed to sing it, now she can and she rips the lid off, there's a live version of her old band; the Ronette's "I Wish I Never Saw The Sun" plus killer versions of "You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory" and "Bye Bye Baby." Five songs by one of the greatest talents of the rock era... it's so great. Now I can't wait to track down that new album!
Ronnie Rocks! Mar 13, 2007 Most EP's are just a collection of singles, it's totally rare to get one that's contains new music, Ronnie's 'She Talks To Rainbows' is simply wonderful, one wonders what a full length cd would've contained, Ronnie's unique voice just shines on this!, great musicians and arrangements gives you that classic Ronettes sound updated with a rock edge, this is a great addition to any fan of the girl group sound.
Come Back Ronnie Oct 06, 2006 Yes... the original female rocker who Phil married to keep that voice with his Wall of Sound. What a shame they could not have remained partners in sound and got a divorce. But.. I want Ronnie back on stage. I've lived in Las Vegas since 1982 and I'm hard to please but that very special voice of Ronnie's would make her a hit here no matter what type of song she sings... Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa whoa
a taste of something that could have been so, so great! Sep 06, 2006 Joey Ramone and Ronnie Spector were made for each other. What a perfect match.
This is such a wonderful concoction. Don't be surprised, the punk/ new wave acts from the 1970's worshipped the ground of Ronnie Spector. They all loved her.
Ronnie should be pushed to do more rock and stripped down musical projects. Her voice is so powerful that she does not need an overproduced and busy sound.
"Bye Bye Baby" a duet with Joey Ramone, "You Cant put your arms around a memory" a Johnny Thunders tune, " this is pure heaven. Every song has the Ronnie Spector trademark sound but with a very contemporary instrumentation.
This is a brief 5 song ep. It definetly is not enough but at the same time it wisely makes you crave more from this type of project. Too bad it will never be possible.
Joey Ramone really understood Ronnie Spector better than anybody in the last 30 years.
