Put it on repeat!!!! Jun 10, 2009 I saw The Script live W/Adelle as a Mother's day gift in Philly at the Electric Factory! I already adored Adelle. The Script's sound was amazing and the lyrics touched me in major ways. This is a very talented group of musicians. Easy listen, funk, rock, r&b,a little country vibe. Most excellent!!!

A new sound Apr 05, 2009 I first heard of The Script from commercials on MTV. The short sound clip caught my attention right away. After hearing it a couple of times, I was convinced I should buy the cd. When I researched the band, I realized that the lead singer was formerly in a band of which I also own a cd. So really, this is a comeback story... lead singer Danny has hit the scene with a new sound, gaining more popularity and singing from his soul. The songs are original, and the band claims to not follow a "formula". Indeed, when looking at the lyrics for their hit single "The man who can't be moved" it reads like a story. There isn't even a chorus that is repeated.
This band has been compared to U2 or Maroon5, but I think they are entirely different. The soulful singing of lead singer Danny reminds me of Robin Thicke's original album before he crossed over to r&b music. The background vocalists of The Script also play a key role in the songs. The general music melodies and beats are playful and uplifting despite the serious or melancholy content of the lyrics.
I would say the target audience for this band is ages 15-35, and the songs are powerful enough to create an excellent live show. Check for clips online of their live performances; they are amazing.

Great album and grows on you with each listen Mar 26, 2009 Some of the songs are downers/sad but they don't detract from the experience. The do sound a lot like The Fray and to a lesser degree Maroon 5, but this album is much more cohesive and with staying power than what those two bands last put out.

Overall Great Album, Better After a Break-Up Feb 21, 2009 This is a great album to listen to after a break-up. The Script has been compared to a UK version of Maroon 5 (who I love), but this album is more on the sad side of Maroon 5. There are only a couple of up-beat & positive songs, but that's fine if you've just gone through a break-up. The lyrics are meaningful & paint a story ("The Man Who Can't Be Moved"). My two favorite songs on the album are "Breakeven" & "If You See Kay."
If you like the style of Maroon 5 & are feeling a bit sad, this is definitely an album you need to listen to.
