Description:

Originally from Vancouver B.C. and signed by Chad Kroeger of Nickelback to his 604 Records label (where the band is still signed in Canada), Theory is following up a very successful sophomore album cycle (GASOLINE) that included the huge radio hits "Santa Monica," "No Surprise" and "Hello Lonely." Theory are road dogs and expect to be on the road for 2 years straight to support their new album SCARS & SOUVENIRS. The balanced 13-track effort is the polished and passionate testament to seven years of hard work, heavy touring and diligent attention to its craft. From the swirling grinds of the first single "So Happy" to the soaring melodicism of "Not Meant to Be" and "By The Way," Scars & Souvenirs is a broad-reaching endeavor that puts singer/guitarist Tyler Connolly, guitarist Dave Brenner and bassist Dean Back high in the rock pantheon, achieving creative growth without sacrificing the hard-hitting power that got them here in the first place.

"It's the Scars & Souvenirs of your life," Connolly explains. "The songwriting on the record is really about someone’s past or and present, their relationships and how they shape everything. It’s more metaphorical than physical scars and trophies. We’re just a hard-working band, man. We want to be out there for a couple of years and play these songs to everybody we possibly can." Tyler also contributed guitar and appeared in the video for Chad Kroeger’s #1 smash hit "Hero," the theme song to the massive Spider-Man movie.

5Great Album  Nov 05, 2009
I love this album. I purchased three of Theory's albums at once, and this one is by far my favorite.

3Carved Up and scattered  Oct 09, 2009
When TOAD first came out they had a very distinct blues oriented sound which made them listenable and original. "Gasoline", their second effort, re-fortified the essence of the band and gave them pop status. Whether this is what they wanted I am not for sure. Now we have "Scars and Souvenirs" which I was really anxious to hear. What a let down. They have abandoned their trade mark blues tainted grunge for pop insensitivity. There are two songs that sound original, Little Smirk and End of the Summer, and the rest.....oh my. The only thing I can think of is that the record reps must have squeezed their tater tots until they cried uncle. Lets hope their next effort gets back to basics. And, stop trying to sound like other bands too!

4It was a decent soundtrack  Oct 01, 2009
Theory of a Deadman is a pretty reputable artist, and they supposedly sound like Nickelback, but I guess they can sometimes. Anyway, they have a good guitar and drummer, and the lyrics are the good reason people are interested in this artist. Some of the best songs are the ones that express the most story, and the singles always on the radio, like "Bad Girlfriend", "So Happy", and "Hate my Life". Although, there are still good songs there. However, the whole album is not worthwhile, but it is worth a listen, and when I say that, it's that some people will wanna by it and other peoples wont, because the whole album is not worthy, and that's why I'm giving it four stars. The voice has changed, but overall, their lyrics are still good in the old and new.

5Awesome CD  Sep 22, 2009
Every song on this CD is very very good. These guys are so talented. I'm sure many more of these songs will be on the radio. Cd shipped fast and in excellant condition!

5Fantastic CD  Sep 16, 2009
I only recently became a T.O.A.D. fan after hearing the song "Bad Girlfriend" on the radio. I picked up this CD when I realized that I enjoyed many of their other songs, and this record certainly doesn't disappoint. I love all the songs on this disc and would argue the case that they could all be hit singles. If you enjoy T.O.A.D., this is a must-buy.
