Excellent history lesson! Nov 09, 2009 One of the other reviews was correct when it said it was completely nonpartisan. I was going to say that Newt and Callista were completely objective in the video, and I didn't once hear them use their opinion on anything. They stated fact after fact. I was completely impressed and I even learned a little! Of course I bought this for my sons who homeschool, and when I asked them, they told me it was a great tool for learning certain aspects of our country's history that you most likely won't learn in a California public school. Sad but true. So please let your children watch this dvd, or you can even rent it from Netflix! This is something our nation is letting slip away- our Christian origins, and more and more people are lying to make the "ignorant" think this country was not founded on religious principles, or even that we are a Muslim nation. We need to refresh the learning and education of our kids and make sure they learn what is important! Not tolerance for homosexuality or ridiculous things like that.
Sould be required viewing Nov 01, 2009 Not political but carries a powerful message. I am recommending it to all of my children.

Well Done. Informative. Could've gone farther. Jul 11, 2009 Honest history is truely enlightening and worth the research effort no matter where it takes you. This DVD helps set the record straight on yet another standard topic of rewritten history with many indisputable facts and quotes by historic Presidents from The Republican and Democrat parties and the founders themselves through establishment and early years of our republic, although I thought that even more examples/quotes could've been included and I thought it could've been a little longer. I recommend it. It would make a great gift too. Political TV pundits often talk about "The separation of Church and State" as many politicians do. Many describe it as meaning that there can be no religious involvement in government buildings or offices or properties and especially policies. This DVD presents examples of the founders' inclusion of God in their efforts to build our country's foundation. There are many more and even stronger examples of this in the founders' writings and actions while in office and through our earliest years that could've been added to this. Don't believe me or the pundits. The founding truths are self evident. Go find legitimate history books and let the founders tell you themselves how they included God and core religious principles in policy, in developing our republic and on/in public property. They created this government. They ought to understand where its restrictions and strict limitations are.
I recommend that you view our founding documents (The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, The Bill of Rights, The Articles of Confederation and the Federalist papers - all available in different forms on amazon.com) and check out these books for more insight on these people, their sacrifice, beliefs, character and America's founding design to see who they were and who they said we need to be to maintain true independence and freedom;

These would all make great gifts as well.

Not Great Feb 01, 2009 I think Newt has his head screwed on right but this video left me dry. It was boring and I never watched it a second time. I guess I can't define what I was looking for but this DVD didn't do the trick.

movie Nov 10, 2008 Rediscovering God in America is a well done documentary of our nation's buildings in DC, and the founding father's papers showing intent that America be a God fearing nation, yet have a separation of Church and state. All historians in this film do an excellent job. It is appropriate for children (above age 5 or 6) and adults. It's a must view before one visits Washington, DC.
