Fans Will Like It Nov 16, 2009 This is a great addition for the true fan. For the casual fan, I would suggest the Court of the Crimson King. Remix is great quality and I particularly like the 5.1 mix.
engulfing Nov 14, 2009 a must have.
the music wraps around you and absorbs into your soul.
thank you Robert Fripp !!!!!
Glitch makes this less than stellar Nov 13, 2009 I got this album for the surround sound, primarily - I loved the Genesis and Porcupine Tree surround mixes, and am looking forward to the surround sound remixes of the other King Crimson albums. I really loved the surround sound mix on this, one of my favorite albums ever! It's a very original mix, with the idea of the guitar, often the main instrument, often coming from behind ...
So why not 5 stars? When the DVD goes from the 1st to the 2nd track, it halts, then re-plays the last few seconds of the first track again, whereas these two tracks should segue. It's hard to believe nobody caught this glitch before it went out. I think they should issue replacement disks to the customers who bought this. Really, it's kind of disgraceful. You shouldn't have to listen to an album with an obvious, obnoxious error like that on it. Minus one star.
Another thing (another minus one star): when I first received this album, it either refused to play, or skipped (note that the above glitch was present on that copy, also). I alerted amazon, and they *kindly* sent me a replacement copy, which is working fine, apart from the glitch issue. However, my copy of "In the Court of the Crimson King" just arrived, and it is displaying the EXACT same behavior! It either won't play, or skips. I've never experienced this with any DVD, so I hardly doubt it's my player. It seems to me that the odds of this happening to two disks successively are very slim, suggesting that these DVDs might be badly and cheaply printed.
Careful, customer. These are wonderful 5.1 remixes, and I highly recommend this to anyone who loves surround sound - but see if you can see stories like mine. Reader, if you *do* have a similar story, please do not hesitate to post.
To the diehards: apologies for lowering the average rating.
Amazing Sound! Clear, crisp, expanded, yet mixed like you remember it. Nov 10, 2009 What I like about this re-mix is it sounds just like you remember it - only much, much better. And better, I mean clearer, crisper, and everything is audible. At the same time, it's not re-mixed so it sounds different - it sounds like you remember it. Same vocals and instruments, same relative levels, but much, much better. And the old video is great! I laughed my butt off - Bill Bruford cracks me up - he's such a goof-ball. A really nice package of great music. I've got "In the Court" on the way, and I might as well pre-order Lizard while it's only 18.99 w/free shipping.
I couldn't be happier with this version of RED. I can't see ever needing to re-buy this old album after getting this version. Highly recommended
wow!!!! Nov 08, 2009 thanks to Stuart I got my act together and was able to hear the mlp version on my Toshiba and my computer. But both Yamahas will only play the DTS version. But they will play other dvd audio discs the right way. I just can't go to my set up and actually click onto the dvd audio part. It's grayed out. If anybody has a Yamaha with that same problem, maybe you can help. Thanks for all the input from the others too! Loved it and can't wait for the next two. I hope larks tongue and starless and bible black come out soon too.
