 An interesting studio experience... Nov 20, 2009
Israel and New Breed teamed up with multi-talented musician/singer/writer/producer Tommy Sims to put together Real, the follow-up to their successful live debut, New Season. This time, instead of a live recording, they put Real together as a studio recording, and the result is mostly successful.
My personal favorites of the album are "Better" and "Magnificent and Holy," although the majority of the album works very well. There are a couple of songs that wouldn't necessarily be missed if they'd been left off the album ("'Bout It 'Bout It" and "Real" come to mind), but they don't detract from the overall quality of the album.
After this album, Israel went back to releasing live recordings, which seem to translate the energy of the group a little better than this album. However, Real is still miles ahead of the majority of gospel/praise and worship music that's being released today, and I highly recommend it...

This man is indeed the King of all the praise and worship leaders/ Humility and service are heard in every song I have ever heard him do. His voice is strong and undeniably full of the power of God. This is a must for those seeking a deeper more meaningful eb=ncounter with God.

This album holds a very special place for me. I love how it is praise and worship cd but it has a very urban r&b flava to it. The cd is definately very inspiring - to make you feel good and get you in he presence of God. Would definately recommend this cd to both young and old!
My favourite track on the albun would have to be "Taste and See." Wow- what a track!

Israel is the "Real " Deal! Jun 02, 2005
I bought this album specifically for 'Magnificent and Holy'. That is one of the most beautiful songs,Secular,Classical,Christian, or otherwise. But the others are equally moving.
Kudos to Israel, and his wife, Meleasa.
