Pretty poorly written Aug 06, 2009 I really wanted to like this book and read it from start to finish but was never able to get over how poorly written it is (I guess TV writers need to stick to TV) and how boring her supposedly fabulous quasi celebrity life is to read about. I think that this book was intended to be "meaningful chick lit" - but I think that audience doesn't really want to read about real life problems. While I do think I learned a few things about Brac 1, Brac 2, that information would have been much more palatable in a magazine article instead of stretched out in a long, boring book. Also, some of her information seems erroneous, but who knows - info on cancer does change quickly and so maybe it was factual when she wrote it.
If you are a normal intelligent person who is interested in this subject I would recommend that you not bother with this book. The FORCE web site probably has much better information.

Some cancers disappear untreated, study finds Jul 23, 2009 There are many people who cure (themselves) from cancer (and other diseases, for that matter). A few things they all seem to have in common:
They take responsibility for their health/sickness away from doctors or anyone else.
They get rid of negative feelings (like anger, grudge, helplessness and, most of all, by doing this, FEAR). In other words, they CHANGE their lifestyle (most of the time they also take control of what they eat - which is where this book comes in handy).
But most important (togheter with finding peace of mind):
They give their body TIME TO HEAL ITSELF!
Here's a few links for the interested:

And, for the brave, to take it a bit further (in terms of the cause of cancer):

Hope this will be of help for a few people.
Surprisingly good book Jul 09, 2009 As someone who recently tested positive for a BRCA gene mutation, I found this book to be very interesting, informative, and entertaining. It is a captivating story even if you do not have a BRCA or breast cancer connection. I found myself wanting to read on to find out what Jessica decides to do. I wish she would write another book to catch us up on things. Several years after this book was published, I find that the difficult decisions she faces are still difficult for those of us with this unlucky inheritance. I strongly recommend it.
A must read for every woman! Mar 21, 2009 This book is tender, informative, heartbreaking and incredibly interesting. Not just a "woman's book" it sheds light on issues of technology, destiny, health and one's ability to "pre-empt" fate when it comes to health, life, and death. It has the addictive quality of a good memoir but definitely promotes further discussion and thought.

A Perfect, Inspiring Story Feb 19, 2009 I LOVE this book, and have given it as a gift many times. Her thoughts about what it truly means to be beautiful teaches us all how to overcome the big obstacles in life with grace and heroism.
