finally these terrible bands pay hommage Sep 12, 2006 The Police was the greatest band of all time. I am glad to see them finally getting the recognition they deserve. However, these bands are all so bad and their covers could never do justice. Fall Out Boy is the worst thing to hit the radio in years, but I am very happy to see that they know it is important to honors the greats that came before them.

if you dont like these bands, but like the police, you will like it
highlight tracks are from underoath, fall out boy and motion city soundtrack
okay album Apr 23, 2006 this album was okay but was mostly filled with bad bands in the first place. while these bands arent "garage" they are very popular and get the covers right.
personally Underoath had the best song. the song kept the song in pace while filling it with quality of that of their new cd.
if you want some bands that cover the police, you might like this cd.

Experience Apr 17, 2006 Well, if your a fan of the police or sting....you will apreciate this album. Although not all the songs have they're "own spin," they all did excellent on creating the sound of the police. The past reviews did a good job on rating every song, i dont have complaints.... other than... the cover for "wrapped around your finger" is one of the best songs on the album, it shows an amazing amount of originality, although the lyrics are the same, it manages to be a differnet song. You dont have to be into Underoath's genre to like/love this song, you only have to be into the police. If you listen to the song, at first it wont catch, you probably wont like it. Give it some time... put it on repeat...after the fifth listen, you'll be hooked.

Its patchy but there are some good covers... Apr 14, 2006 Okay,
Here's an opinion from the point of view of a Police fan. If you haven't heard the originals, forget this album and go out and buy the Police box set or at least their greatest hits. Only U2 rivals the Police for song quality over the past 25 years, and in my opinion the 'Rock Cops' have the Irish lads beat.
Overall, Policia (as you would expect from a cover disc) has some hits and misses. If I had one complaint it would be that many of the singers from these bands sound the same. Its almost as if one band made the entire album. Also, there are no songs from the Police's third (and maybe best) album.
Anyway, I'll break it down for you tune by tune.
1. Brandtson - King of Pain: 6/10. The music is pretty different but they manage to pull it off. Not a bad track, but the vocals are way overdone and they tried to make this sound way too poppy. The singer just overdoes everything a little too much. On the plus side, the ending is cool with the chorus being repeated and they do add in some nice elements to the song. Overall not a bad effort, but nowhere near the original.
2. Fall Out Boy - Roxanne: 8/10 Its pretty cool the way they put their own spin on this tune. This original has probably been played so much that people have forgotten how good it really is. Anyway it was good to hear the song spiked up with some hard guitar. Fall Out Boy made this their own and pulled it off.
3. Motion City Soundtrack - Truth Hits Everybody: 10/10 The great thing about the Police is that (like U2) the songs they didn't release are as good if not better than their hits. MCS provides easily the best cover on the album. Truth Hits Everybody is a great song and MCS did a great job of throwing in some power chords and providing some energy to an old classic. So good it rivals the original. Outstanding!
4. No Motiv - Synchronicity II: 5/10. I was really looking forward to this one. The vocals are weak and they actually powered down the guitar on the song. While the cover isn't bad, its not particularly good either. A major disapointment. Stick with the original.
5. Limbeck - So Lonely: 2/10 I give them credit for trying to "make it their own" but it just doesn't work. I've heard better covers on American Idol.
6. Big Collapse - Next to You: 7/10. A good cover but it could've been so much better. Like the King of Pain remake, this is way too poppy. The very end of the song is especially annoying with the whole "what can I doooo?"... Still while it lacks the power of the original, the cover has some energy and its pretty good overall.
7. Maxeen - Murder by Numbers. 9.5/10. Great Police-feel to this song. When I first got the album, I constantly skipped past this song because the opening vocal just sounded lame. Once I gave it a chance however it won me over. As a credit to the band, while they definitely changed the song around, they did it in a way that the Police themselves might have. The horns that trail out at the end of the song are very eerie and very "Police-ish". The vocals also get better as the song continues. Excellent.
8. The Pale - Walking on the Moon. 2/10. A waste of time.
9. Underoath - Wrapped Around Your Finger: 0/10. If I want to hear someone screaming, I'll go down to the local ER and listen in on a kidney stone patient. Either that or I'll listen to Andy Summers' Mother off of the Synchronicity album. Either are better than listening to Underoath.
10. Anadivine - Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic: 8/10. This is a good cover with lots of energy to it. The vocals are okay and the guitar is great. A good cover of a great song.
11. Watashi Wa - Message in a Bottle: 8/10 The most faithful cover on the album. The singer's raspy voice comes the closest on the album to mimicking Sting. A good remake, but its so close to the original that there's nothing really new here. Still, its an 'A' for effort and a solid song.
12. Copeland - Every Breath You Take: 2/10. It sounds like something off a Clay Aitken album. Like the So Lonely remake, this is a vain attempt to change a classic tune. A totally insipid cover, this is a terrible way to close the album.
Sorry if some of the reviews seem harsh, but at least you're getting an honest opinion. Also, keep in mind this is from someone who's actually heard the originals and is a big fan of The Police.
MCS's Truth Hits Everybody alone makes the album worth buying. Every Little Thing..., Roxanne, Message and Next To You are good covers as well. If you're a fan, the album is worth owning as its a nice addition to any Police collection. If you don't have the originals though, get the Police albums first. They are truly excellent.
